Procedure: Equipment for Intubation

Pre-assessment
• Check consent
• Check the patency of the intravenous catheter
Gather the equipment for the function
• Face mask/ Bag valve mask of appropriate size
• Airway of appropriate size
• Makintosh and Miller Laryngoscope of appropriate size
• Cuffed endotracheal tube (ETT) of appropriate size
• Syringe 10cc
• Stylet
• Lubricant jelly
• McGill Forceps
• Yanker suction tube
• Tape to secure the ETT
Prepare the laryngoscope
• Check if the blade fix properly with the handle
• Check if the light is working
• Ensure the laryngoscope is steady
• Ensure the bulb is tightly screwed
• Standby Miller Laryngoscope
Prepare the ETT
• Prepare correct size (Male 7.5 & 8.0; Female 6.5 & 7.0)
• Open a small part of the ETT wrapper
• Check for cuff leakage by applying air through the syringe
• Apply Xylocaine jelly at the tip of ETT
Post
• Asist anesthetist in intubation
