10. A circuit contains three resistors, one of 2 ohm and the other two of 4 ohm each. The 4
ohm resistors are connected in parallel and the combination is connected in series with
the 2 ohm resistor. Calculate the current flowing through the circuit if a voltage of 10V is
applied. 3
11. You are standing in a parking lot, and you notice a convex mirror installed on a wall
near the entrance. The mirror is used to help drivers see around a blind corner. The
object in front of the mirror is a parked car.
(i) (a) Explain the purpose of convex mirror in this scenario and how it helps driver see
around a blind corner. 1
(b) Explain how the image of the parked car is formed by the convex mirror. Mention the
characteristics of the image such as its orientation and size. 1
(ii) If the convex mirror was replaced with a concave mirror of the same focal length,
how would the image formation be different? Provide a brief explanation.

13. . Explain the formation of a rainbow. Describe the roles of refraction, dispersion, and
total internal reflection in this phenomenon- 5
(A) (i) "In refraction of light through a rectangular glass slab, the emergent ray is always
parallel to the direction of the incident ray". Why? Explain with the help of a ray
diagram. What happens when a ray of light falls normally on one of the faces of a
rectangular glass prism? Draw diagram.
(ii) An object is placed at a distance of 30 cm from the optical centre of a concave lens of
focal length 20 cm. Use Lens formula to determine the position of the image formed in
this case. (Cr, Ev)

(B) (i) A student wishes to study the image formation by a concave mirror using candle
flame as object. State the type of the image formed by the mirror and mention the
change in the image formed, if any, that he observes when the candle flame is gradually
moved away from the pole of the mirror. Draw a ray diagram to show the image
formation when the object distance is nearly equal to the radius of curvature of the
mirror.
(ii) A convex mirror used for rear-view on an automobile has a focal length of 3.0 m. If a bus
is located at 6.0 m from this mirror, use mirror formula to find the position of the image
of the bus as seen in the mirror.
14. Three resistors in a circuit are attached as shown here. The resistance of F and G are 10
ohm and 5 ohm respectively. The resistance of E is unknown. These resistors are
connected to a battery with potential difference 6 V. 5
