Lara Newton, M.A., L.P.C., is a senior Jungian analyst in private practice in Denver, Colorado.She received a master’s degree in English literature before beginning her analytical training at the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich. After returning to the United States, she earned a master’s degree in psychology before completing her Jungian training with the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts.Her thesis for the IRSJA was on the brother-sister relationship. She explored animus development in women who had been deeply affected by their relationships with their brothers. Work on that writing culminated in her book, Brothers & Sisters: Discovering the Psychology of Companionship.Lara is a founding member of the C.G. Jung Institute of Colorado, an independent training society and member of International Association for Analytical Psychology. She helped to usher in their independent training program, and became the first Director of Training for the organization, a position that she continues to hold.She currently serves as president of the C.G. Jung Society of Colorado, an organization dedicated to bringing lectures and presentations related to Jungian psychology to the general public.Lara’s interests include Celtic Mythology and Irish literature, and she continues to study Jung’s work on alchemy. A focus for her has been the female alchemist Maria Prophetissa. She has studied, taught and written about fairy tales from all cultures and has presented lectures and workshops on these and other topics both locally and internationally. Her most recent publication is an article in Spring Journal #79: Irish Culture & Depth Psychology titled, “Deirdre of the Sorrows.” She is currently working on a book of interpretations of fairy tales from a collection that was “rediscovered” and translated a few years ago – Original Bavarian Folktales: A Schönwerth Selection. This interview was recorded on June 15, 2016. It runs for one hour and 19 minutes and is 74 MB.
