O The Central Institute of Educational

Technology is an autonomous organization,


formed as a nodal agency under the
National Council of Educational Research
and Training (NCERT).for promoting the use
of mass media technology for expanding
and improving the quality of education at
the school level.
O The Institute is funded by the Ministry of
Human Resources Development (MHRD),
Govt of India

O The CIET was estabilshed in 1984 by

the Ministry of Human Resources


Development of Govt of India, under
the umberlla of the National Council
of Educational Research and Training
(NCERT).
O The Institute is located at NIE
Campus, NCERT in New Delhi, the
capital of India.

CIET is mandated to:


O To design and produce media software

materials
O To create competencies in development and use
of educational software materials mentioned
above through training
O To develop plans for the use of information and
Communication Technologies in education.
O To train the faculty of Institutes of Advanced
Study in Education and Training in the use
of Educational Technology in their teacher
education programs.

O To undertake research, evaluation

and monitoring of the systems,


programs and materials with a
view to improving the materials and
increasing their effectiveness.

Audio production

O The department is the production hub of

CIET for audio related programs for


broadcast and non-broadcast uses.

Video production
Department
O The department produces educational

videos for children of 5 to 18 years and


teachers at the primary and secondary
levels.

Facilities
Library
OMaintain 3 libraries,
OAudio, video and book
collections.
OIts stock with content on educational
technologies , radio, TV, films,
multimedia in the form of books,
Journals, CDs/DVDs and
multimedia packags.

Edusat Network
O CIET utilize the edusat
O It utilize Ku-band along with 100
terminals at various locations at
India for conventional radio and TV
broadcast , intractive radio and
TV, exchange of data , audio video
and computer conferencing and
wed based education.

technology and new ICT.
O Disseminate e-contents through
telecast/broadcast on DD-1, Gyan
Darshan channels.

Educational Resources (NROER)
O Organized training programmes for
teachers &teacher educator of 15 states.
O Organized All India Childrens
Educational Audio Video
