Ethics of AI and Human Morality

The document discusses the ethics of artificial intelligence and how human morality should affect its usage. It explores how AI can be conceptualized as objects, animals, or people, and how the conceptualization influences how AI should be treated in terms of morality. The conclusion is that as technology progresses to create humanoid and socially aware artificial intelligence, humans have a duty to respect them within the bounds of human morals.

The Ethics of

Artificial
Intelligence
By: Hannah Brayboy
Intro
 This current age of inforamtion has brought about
quickly spreading ideas of artifical intellegence
and what that should mean for the world.
 As more and more examples of ways artifical 2
intellegences can improve our lives, it's important
to recognize the all ways it can impact the way
we live and think.
Research Question

How should the concept of human

morality affect the usage of artifical 3
intellegence.
Background
In order to solve this problem, there
had to be a clear establishment of what
morality would be defined in these
4
terms and what contended as artifical
intellegence.
What I Found
 Morality is "a particular system of values and principles of
conduct, especially one held by a specified person or society".
This typically goes hand-in-hand with the rights one natually
holds.
5
 Artifical intellegence (AI) is the "simulation of human
intellegence" and can be used in numerous fields such
as, transportation, finance, healthcare, media, and more.
 A combonation of these two concepts exsists in "machine
ethics" where philopshy is introduced to consider chaterizations
like agency, rational agency, moral agency, and artificial agency
What I Found
Speaker, Alan Winfield talks about antrophmorphus andriods and
how the humanoid features are unsettling to most. He then devels
futher into the idea that these andriods could cause issues with them
looking so simlarly to humans.
6
He speaks how the questioning of these machine makers should
come into play when talking about the problems of robot morality.
What I learned
▹ AI can be seen in three different
ways, as objects, animals, or
people.  7

▹ In which ever way the AI is

conceptualised plays a role in
how they ahould be treated in terms
of morality.
Review
Artifical intellegence is only a piece of
technology at the end of the day, and
while it could never fully inact the 8

ways of a human, if it becomes closely

enough related to a human there should
be some kind of moral treatment
displayed.
Conclusion
In conclusion, how should should the
concept of human morality affect the
usage of artifical intellegence was 9
answered. As technology progresses to
create humanoid and socially aware
artifical intellegences, it's the duty of
humans to repect them in the bounds of
human morals.
