OBJECTIVE :

• The main objective of this project is to control the traffic lights based on the density of the
vehicles.
INTRODUCTION

• The aim of the project is to solve traffic congestion which is a severe problem in many modern
cities all over world.
• The major cause leading to traffic congestion is the high number of vehicles which was caused
by the population and development of economy.
• If the traffic density is high on particular side more priority is given for that side. The sensors
continuously keep sensing density on all sides and the green signal is given to the side on
priority basis, where the sensors detect high density

PROBLEM STATEMENT

• The problem with the traffic system is that for every minute the vehicles at the 4-way

road will be heavy and the traffic lights shall be changed to each side for some fixed
time. Even though there are no vehicles at particular side, the traffic signals will
glow for given fixed time.
• The monitoring and control of city traffic lights is becoming a major problem in many
countries.
• In addition , delays due to traffic congestions also indirectly affect productivity,
efficiency and energy losses.
