B. Simple Past Tense
Two types
of verbs

Reguler

Irreguler
Reguler Verbs
The Past tense of reguler verbs is formed by adding -d
or –ed to the base form of the verb.
Example : - I worked in a shop last month
- I lived in a big house when I was
younger

Irreguler Verbs
Irreguler Past Verb forms must be learned because they
don’t follow any rule.
Example: I went to Paris Last year

The Simple Past Tense is
used

1. To talk about actions that happened at a specific time


in the past. You state when it happened using a time
adverb (yesterday, last month)

2. It can be used to describe events that happened over a


period of time in the past but not now.
“I lived in Asia for two years”

3. It’s also used to talk about habitual or repeated actions that took place
in the past.
“when I was child we always went to the seaside on bank holidays
The Pattern
Ada 2 macam bentuk kalimat yaitu kalimat verbal dan
nominal. Keduanya memiliki rumus yang berbeda.
1. Rumus Simple Past Tense dalam verbal

Positive: Subject + Verb 2 + Object


Negative : Subject + didn’t + verb 1 + o
Introgative : Did + Subject + Verb 1 + O
Example : (+) We saw you yesterday
(-) We didn’t see you yesterday
(?) Did we saw you yesterday?
2. Rumus Simple Past dalam bentuk Nominal
Positive: Subject + Was/were + Nominal
Example: She was a doctor last year
They were students last year

Negative: Subject + was/were + not +


nominal
Example: She was not a doctor last year
They were not a doctor last year

Introgative: Was/were + Subject + Nominal?


Example: Was she a doctor last year?
Were they a doctor last year?

Complete the sentences with was, were, weren’t
