 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Potholed road
-Every time a potholed road occurs is that the vehicle that passes through the damaged road can
damage the quality of the tires or even the tires can break.

Ecosystem destruction
-This can cause the occurrence of odor and air pollution which is very high risk and the
surrounding community will be effected.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
1. To study the durability of plastic mixed bitumen compared to normal bitumen.

2. To study the rate of water infiltration of plastic mixed bitumen compared to normal bitumen.

RESEARCH QUESTION
• 1. Is plastic mixed bitumen stronger than normal bitumen?
• 2. Is the rate of water seepage in plastic mixed bitumen higher than normal
bitumen?
SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH
• 1. The plastic used is Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic, which is found in
mineral drink plastic bottles and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) plastic, which
is a plastic that is often used to put food.
• 2. The level of percentage of plastic to be mixed into bitumen is 10%, 20% and
30%.
• 3. The tests involved are aggregate impact value tests and water percolation tests.
 LITERATURE REVIEW
• Bitumen
Bitumen is a black sticky hydrocarbon substance that has a luster or resin that shines, is resistant
to water, and is viscoelastic. Asphalt is also a binding material in the asphalt mixture that is used
as a surface layer of flexible paving.
• Plastic
The term plastic includes synthetic or semi-synthetic polymer products. It is formed from organic
evaporation or polymer addition and can also consist of other materials to increase durability or
economy.

CONCLUSION

• Among them is being able to find out a little about the real cause of the project being done
because the environment is polluted due to the disposal of plastic used in daily life and being
able to overcome that problem by doing this effective project. It would be great if this project
could be implemented in our country because plastic will increase the lifespan road life and
plastic also take a long time to decompose and the community is not easy to get sick due to
environmental pollution factors. If using the right method this project will be able to be used
for the future. It is so important if we take this project more seriously because it will have a lot
of good impact. This project has collected and burned plastic waste from the sea. This method
allows for specific recycling in which liquid plastic material in this form can be used to pave
roads.
