Purpose

The document presents an in-depth view of the existing


“Aircraft Damage Investigation Team” application. This
application is developed on J2EE technology using Struts
Framework 1.1, at Cognizant Technology Solutions – Kolkata.
This document will be used by anyone who wants to enhance
or modify the “Aircraft Damage Investigation Team”
application.

Objective

To be able to acquire sufficient knowledge about the Aircraft


Damage Investigation Team” application.
To enable phased take-over of development of the system, by a
new team from existing team members.
To be able to set up plans and procedures to perform
development and maintenance activities conforming to the existing
Customer and / or Cognizant standards and guidelines.

Overview

This application is being developed for a client of Cognizant


Technology Solutions called “North West Airlines”.
The application intends to provide an automated mechanism for
Aircraft damage reporting. There will be three kinds of users for
using the application as mentioned below:
• Normal user
• Manager
• Coordinator

Normal User

Normal user can be any employee of North West


Airlines who is responsible for reporting any kind of
damage found in the aircraft. He/She may use the
application for filling the details of the damage found.
The report submitted by normal user will be called as
‘Initial Report’ Every Initial report would be
distinguishable in the system by an auto-generated
number called as ‘Tracking Number’.

Manager

The manager would be the person deputed by the


company for analyzing the initial reports submitted
by normal users. The manager will have access of
updating or saving an initial report, and he submits
the complete report. He would be able to create a new
initial report as well.

The coordinator would be the person deputed by


the company for analyzing the initial reports
submitted by normal users. The coordinator will
have access of updating or saving an initial report,
and he submits the complete report.
