There are a Four Categories of Computer
System Servicing Tools

Hand tools - is a device for performing work on a


material or a physical system using hands only. The
hand tools can be manually used by employing force, or
electrically powered, using an electrical current.
Cleaning tools - Having the appropriate cleaning tools is
essential when maintaining or repairing computers.
Using these tools ensures that computer components
are not damaged during cleaning.

Diagnostic tools - Computers are easier to use


and more dependable with each new generation
of hardware and operating system update, but
that doesn't mean they're problem-free. There is
a wide array of devices used to test and diagnose
the integrity of circuits and functionality of ports
of electronic equipment like computers.
Hand tools
Flat head screwdriver
Meaning: A screwdriver featuring a
single flat blade that is designed to be
used with a screw that has a straight
slot across its top.
Usage: Used for tightening or
loosening slotted screw.
Maintenance: Keep the tip clean and
sharp to permit a solid grip on the tip
of the screw. Avoid using it as punch,
wedge, pinch bar or pry. Keep the

Phillips head screwdriver
Meaning: A screwdriver with a tip that
is designed to fit into the two
intersecting slots of a Phillips screw.
Usage: Used for tightening or
loosening cross head screw.
Maintenance: If the screwdriver is
damaged or dull, it should always be
sharpened. Do not use this kind of
screwdriver to puncture anything. This
can damage the head of the
screwdriver.

Torx screwdriver
Meaning: A hand tool used for
tightening and untightening torx
screws on a range of applications.
Usage: Used for tightening or
loosening screws that have a star-like
head mostly found in laptops.
Maintenance: Keep the tip clean and
sharp to permit a solid grip on the tip
of the screw. Keep the handle of the
screwdriver clean and intact to allow
for a solid grip.

Hex driver/Allen key
Meaning: A screwdriver that have a
handle and a shaft end with an
hexagonal (six-sided) tip.
Usage: Used for tightening nuts.(same
functions of a screwdriver)
Maintenance: Store your hex keys in a
safe place when not in use - avoid
leaving them out to prevent rust and
damage. Get the correct size hex key
for the job - make sure you have the
right size for the screws or bolts you

Meaning: Also known as long-nose
pliers are both cutting and holding
pliers used by artisans, jewellery
designers, electricians, network
engineers and other tradesmen to
bend, re-position and snip wire.
Usage: It is used for holding, bending
and
stretching the lead of electronics
component or connecting wire.
Maintenance: Rinse with freshwater

Meaning: A tool that is used for
cutting wires like copper, brass, iron,
aluminum and steel wires.
Usage: It is used for cutting copper,
brass, iron, aluminum and steel wires.
Maintenance: Clean the tool,
particularly the blades, with soap and
water to remove splinters of metal or
plastic. Ensure the pliers are
completely dry before storage.

Tweezers
Meaning: Are small hand tools used
for grasping objects too small to be
easily handled with the human fingers.
Usage: Is a tool to manipulate small
objects.
Maintenance: For overall cleaning,
wash the entire implement with hand
soap and warm water. Then, dip the
tips in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen
peroxide, or rub with a cotton swab

Meaning: Is a small hand-held tool
that is used to remove the insulation
from electric wires.
Usage: Used to remove the insulation
from the wire.
Maintenance: Regular cleaning after
use can prevent the build-up of debris.
Lubrication is also important,
especially for automatic wire strippers,
to maintain their moving parts.

Meaning: Is a device used to conjoin
two pieces of metal by deforming one
or both of them in a way that causes
them to hold each other.
Usage: Used to attach connectors to
wires.
Maintenance: Upon completion of
works, wipe the tool to remove stains
and foreign materials with a piece of
soft cloth and close the handle to avoid
any foreign material from entering the

Meaning: Is a hand tool widely used to
terminate the Ethernet cables by
inserting the cable wires into the
