Consumer Protection Act, 1986

The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 is an act of Parliament of India enacted


in 1986 to protect the interest of consumers in India.
 It was modified later in Lok Sabha on 8 July 2019 by the
Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution,
It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir
This act is applied to all goods and services
• To protect the consumer from abuse.
• To provide a venue for grievance /redress.
• To ensure a better quality of living by improving the quality

• To make provisions for the establishment of Consumer
Councils and other authorities for the settlement of
consumer disputes.
