energy.
Basic Five Nutrients

• 1. Carbohydrates – give energy


• 2. Proteins – build muscles
• 3. Fats – store energy
• 4. Vitamins – protect from diseases
• 5. Minerals – help in body functions
What is Health?

• Health is a state of complete physical,


mental, and social well-being.
Balanced Diet

• A balanced diet includes all five nutrients in


the right amount.
Food Pyramid

• The food pyramid shows the right way to


eat:
• - Base: Grains and vegetables
• - Middle: Fruits, dairy, meat
• - Top: Fats and sugars
Deficiency Diseases

• Diseases caused by lack of nutrients.
