MMT
DEFINITION
It is a procedure for evaluation of function and strength of individual muscle or group of muscles based
on effective of function of movement in relation to the force of gravity and manual resistance.
LIMITATION
*Neurological disorder
*Central nervous system lesion
BREAK TEST
Manual resistance is applied to a limb or other body part at the point in the ROM where the muscle is
most challenged.
The term resistance denotes the force that acts in opposite to the contracting muscles.
The break test requires the client to hold the position and not let the examiner break the hold.
ACTIVE RESISTANCE TEST
The examiner applies manual resistance against an actively contracting muscle.
APPLICATION OF RESISTANCE
It follows the length tension relationship of muscle and joint mechanics.
One joint muscles resistance is given at end range.
Two joint muscles resistance is given at mid range.
Resistance is applied near the distal end of the segment to which the muscle attaches.
TEST REQUIREMENT
Muscle power is tested without use of any equipment or instrument.
TESTING CONSIDERATION

-Positioning
-Stabilization
