About this series
Natalia, Joe, and Alejandro continue their search for Ruth, aided by the reformed Mantis. Complications occur afterwards when slight changes to the time continuum cause problems with memory loss and an altered sequence of events.
Dissatisfied that her Bermuda excursion did not include time for fun in the sun, Natalia convinces Joe to include himself in her next travel plans for the Mobile Time Machine, or 'Motimac' – as Joe has dubbed it. All does not go to plan while the pair of teens visits the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and Shuri Castle on Japan's Okinawa Island.
Meanwhile, a certain police constable has grown suspicious of Dr. Yakushev's 'activities' – but not as much as assassins continue to be baffled by them.
Eventually, a pair of 'off-world' rescues needs to happen as well, and all the while, an asteroid continues its menacing passage towards Earth.
Titles in the series (4)
- Zarulium Chronicles I: Destination Nazca
Just before her 13th birthday, Natalia's mother sends the troubled teen to live with her ex-husband, disgraced astrophysicist Dr. Anton Yakushev. What initially seemed like a good idea soon becomes problematic because Anton spends his time in his basement laboratory seemingly obsessed with turning science fiction to fact. Meanwhile Joe Painted Sun has to cope with a new foster family, new school and fitting in with his recently knocked-out tooth. Joe acts cool so that no one uncovers his secrets. Then there's Alejandro. He lives isolated in the mountains where his guardians seek a cure for his disease, but something about his situation doesn't seem quite right. Interwoven into their lives, without their even knowing it, is Lady Ruth, philanthropist and socialite, who is attempting to save the ancient Nazca Lines in Peru from a group of greedy strip-mining capitalists. Follow their adventures as they discover something mysterious hidden within the Peruvian mountains!
- Zarulium Chronicles II: A Day of Discovery
Following Dr. Ferengson, Lady Ruth and her ensemble, Alejandro, and the assassin, code-named Mantis, through the cracked opening within the Nazca mining site, Dr. Y, Natalia and Joe, experience several surprises. A caper ensues within the mountain, with as many twists as the strange place has questions one would ask regarding its very existence. Why would anyone build such a structure, with wide corridors and high ceilings? What is going on in here? Who else is down here? Will they get out alive? As the mystery unfolds, first encounters, new friendships, and eventually, a rather unexpected alliance occur. Is it the air in the place that causes spontaneous romance, itchy trigger-fingers and unanticipated death? A highly irregular journey concludes the adventure, leading to a ground-breaking session of diplomacy. Days later, when Dr. Y finally invites the team to witness his prototype time machine in action, one amongst them has a hidden agenda.
- Zarulium Chronicles III: Misfortunes in Time Travel
Ruth Clarkson-Smythe has vanished! To solve the mystery, Dr. Yakushev needs help from Natalia, Joe and Alejandro, plus his resourceful new girlfriend, an offbeat octogenarian, and the secret visitors in his laboratory. Despite their efforts, problems arise to thwart them at every turn. Equipped with a new mobile time machine and the assistance of a miraculous substance called Zarulium, Yakushev and his team inadvertently explore the self-consistency and parallel universe theories, trying not to wipe out their own lives in the process. While Natalia, Joe and Alejandro work hard at developing their mutations and Mantis, the former assassin, attempts to start over, Anton's lab-dwelling guests receive an unexpected message from home.
- Zarulium Chronicles IV: To the Rescue
