Everyone was dead, and I mean everyone, even my pet hamster, Tiffy. You can well imagine the distress of that initial day, finding my family not waking with me. I thought they were simply sleeping but they weren’t! I waited until 8:30 and believed they had just slept in being a weekend day. I was alerted when I turned on the TV to watch music video clips but the screen was just snow! So I turned it off and would ask Dad to fix it later, but he couldn’t, he was dead too! I finally gave in at 9:00 and went check on them with a fresh cup of tea each that I’d made to surprise them (with two slices of buttered toast). Mum’s opened mouth and the fear in her dead eyes made me drop the tray and I burnt my foot with the scalding liquid. I ran and shook her to wake her but she was dead and dead as Dad was. I stood there frozen looking at them wondering what at happened before my senses returned and I ran downstairs and would get help from Mr. Heckles next-door. I was banging hard on his front door when I saw him, lying there in his rose garden, with his mouth open like Mum’s. It was then I looked around and no one was on the streets. And I mean no one! I saw a car crashed into a lamp post and a body was slumped over the steering wheel so I ran as fast as I could to see if they were alright, but they weren’t! The family of four were all dead. I fell to my knees as the fear filled my tiny body, consuming my questions of why.

Who could ever argue against this, the cycle, the circle, and the unselfish giving? It was the perfect simplistic answer and had been the uncontested law for the last 53 years worldwide. Of course, there were some against this i.e. the last of their generations, but what did they have to gain? All they lost in return was being denied an untold amount of extra years; they all would die eventually! We are not stupid to know that - The World Commission had their own way of suppressing the unruly and there were many unanswered rumors networked around. But just as Aliens from outer space and Nessie from Lochness, we were still waiting for actual answers and proof. They had total control, and the proof wasn’t in the pudding here!

This book # 3 of the series has 2 sequels to previous stories I wrote many, many full moons ago murder, revenge and resurrection are on the agenda! I think we'll need some unlikely heroes in this one! Petara is now 19 and she is unsettlingly beautiful, protruding cheeks, snow white skin, full body length of black hair and if you ask me who she more resembles, Petra or Barbara, well I change my mind daily. On the darkest days though, she is neither but I what do see is ... death. I have guided and protected her from all I can but she is now the monster I so despise. A girl that kills without reason or guilt. It was my doing so it is also my sole responsibility to clean up after her, hiding and disposing of the bodies. Why do I do this? I am the creator and if I have anything I can do to pay my penance for my ignorance then I must protect the world from her as much as humanly possible. Can I kill my own daughter? I am not so sure but her increasing thirst for blood leaves me no choice but to consider it.
