About this series

The king is dead. Spire Tree, the fortress of the elves, has fallen. The cornerstone of peace reduced to chaos and the line of Silverwood is ended, or is it?

From the rubble, an elite guardian from the realm of Dayspring locates the king’s hidden treasure and rescues her before her existence is discovered. Going into hiding, the guardian raises the elf child for fourteen years until, by accident, her existence becomes suspect.

Hunted down, the guardian and his ward race across the five realms of Teradandra looking for allies that can protect the princess and locate the one artifact—a talisman—that can confirm to the world that she is indeed the heir to the throne of Silverwood.

With time running out and the talisman broken apart by a curse into five pieces, the guardian and his allies race against the dark forces of Nightfall to keep the princess alive and recover the talisman. Only then can peace be restored to the five realms. Only then will the glory of Silverwood be known.

After years of hiding, a guardian and his young elf ward are forced to go on the run for their lives. Seeking help, they recruit an unusual cast to help them along the way. The long time friend of the guardian, an old priest, whose love and devotion to the One True God, empowers him with gifts that can aid and guide them on their journey. The hawk lord, bound to the elf, whose command of the sky and agility in battle making him a formidable ally. The crusty, old battle wolf, whose ability to transform himself for time into a massive version of himself providing a level of offense that few can match. And finally, the mysterious spy, whose own potential for craft and cunning continues to surprise the others. Along the way, the friends of the guardian discover that the young elf is not just an orphaned child that the compassionate warrior took in years ago, but is in fact, the lost heir of the fallen realm of Silverwood. After years of decline and the rise of chaos, her discovery could mean an end to the ever increasing darkness and war that covers the land, and a return to peace. That is, if she survives and can be shown to be the true heir to the throne. The great challenge they face, is proving that the elf is indeed the heir. Meanwhile, others have heard of the heir’s rumored existence, and they are anxious to see that the heir’s authenticity is never verified. So the race begins through the five realms to piece together the one artifact - a mythical talisman thought destroyed when Silverwood fell - that can unquestionably put an end to the question of the heir’s right to the throne. Many clues will have to be discovered, and battles fought along the way. Ultimately, they all lean on the leadership of the guardian of the Silverwood to guide them through the challenges they must face.

Six months have passed since Taya, Guntharr and the others recovered the damaged Talisman of Alterian, the only hope to proving that Taya is the rightful heir. With little to go on, Firebane sets out with Rift for a distant monastery where the elves stored copies of their ancient writings. Uncovering a potential lead, the two make their way back to the sanctuary when they are ambushed by a barbarian and rogue Battle Wolf who knows of Rift. Elsewhere, a faction of elves that survived the assault on Silverwood, struggle against an unknown plague that is threatening their outpost’s existence by killing off the crop that they use to sustain themselves. While trying to hold off increasing attacks from the dark creatures of Nightfall and with little men to spare, General Alderthorn sends out a trio of men, led by his only son, Farrian, to search out a gifted spy who can infiltrate the land and discover the source of the plague. Guntharr’s suspicions are aroused as rumors have surfaced throughout the five realms that certain elf groups have forsaken the kingdom of Silverwood and pledged loyalty to no one. Farrian’s pleas for help conflict against Guntharr’s commitment to protect Taya, but then news from Firebane hints that the next piece to the Talisman may reside in Nightfall. Arnethia’s drive to prove herself causes Guntharr to relent and follow the elves back toward Nightfall knowing they could be walking into a trap. Without a plan, Arnethia hurries off on her mission into the land of Nightfall to uncover the whereabouts of the gem and possibly the cause for the plague effecting the General’s outpost. Her persistence pays off, but in the process she is captured by a pair of creatures that have the ability to change into any living creature. Captured and surrounded by an army of evil, Arnethia must rely on a newfound resource to help her overcome her fear, save her friends and return the second gem of the talisman.

On their way to meet up with an ancient dragon, Guntharr, Taya, Firebane and the others encounter a group of elves taken captive by a small army of barbarians. Concerned for their possible allies, Guntharr breaks away from the group to try and discover what fate would befall them. Firebane, now in charge, must lead the others without the help of Rift, through a dangerous dungeon in order to recover a coveted treasure that their dragon host requires to secure an audience with him. Compelled by a longing to return home and a fear that his life is nearing an end, Rift journeys back to Wolf Valley to spend his last days among his family. His warm welcome is cut short when Rift discovers that his oldest son has been missing for weeks, presumably out searching for him. As a result, his youngest has been trying to hold things together with the council of wolves and Rift’s return sparks a controversy which ends with his arrest and subsequent trial. As Rift stands to defend himself, Raskin risks his life and makes a historic appearance in the middle of wolf territory. Alerted to the fact that Guntharr and the others are in deep trouble, Rift is forced to accept banishment from Wolf Valley. Recruiting his family, Rift follows his feathered friend into the wilderness to a long forgotten fortress. There, Firebane and the others are lured into a trap and captured by none other than Guntharr who is now under the control of an evil enchantress. Mastering the power of the green gem, the enchantress, at the request of her sister Naranda, returns a certain wizard back to life. With Guntharr now under the sway of the enchantress, Firebane’s faith and courage is taxed to the limit. Not only must he battle the persuasive power of the enchantress, but hope against all hope that he can find a way to free them all and recover the next piece to the Talisman of Alterian before all is lost.

The key to finding the next piece of the talisman is lost. Rift and his family of battle wolves are formally banished. The church at Brittle is destroyed. Guntharr, Taya, and the others look for a sliver of hope as the thread holding their quest together begins to fray. Driven by concern for their friend, the companions turn their attention to Eddiforth and the Mountain of the Hawk Lords to seek resolution for their friend. Events spiral out of control as Raskin is captured along with Guntharr, Taya, Firebane, and Farrian. The alpha hawk lords launch an all-out attack on the unsuspecting battle wolves of Clan Firepack, but the alphas are not going to it alone. Alpha Plass has secretly enlisted the aid of the sorceress, Naranda. Her role is to guarantee the war and see to it that the rise of Silverwood never happens. Plass seals the deal by turning over the red gem of power. Its discovery coincides with the alphas’ orchestrated extermination of a certain caste of hawk lords. Tensions rise as Raskin discovers the truth about the events leading up to his rescue by Silverwood’s princess. As he prepares for the ultimate fate, the sudden appearance of an impossible hawk lord gives him the strength to forgive himself and a new courage to move forward. Ghosts from Rift’s past surface as former students seek to settle a score with the old battle wolf. To save his friends and lay the lingering guilt he has carried to rest, Rift agrees to a fight to the death with the four rogue battle wolves. Wm. Matthew Graphman

Matthew Graphman is a twenty-five-year veteran in the information technology world. He studied writing, drama, as well as computers while attending Bob Jones University in the late 80’s and early 90’s. There he met his wife, Wendy, of twenty-five years and started a family. He currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife and children, Kathryn (Kat) and Ethan. His oldest son, Sean, is married and lives on the East Coast. Matthew has long been a fan of fantasy fiction. His first attempt at writing was brought on by his roommates in college. As a result, he wrote his first - still unpublished - fantasy novel. After graduating, Matthew continued his writing exploits, but his focus was mostly around theater. After developing a series of children’s skits in the 2000’s, he was encouraged to take the skits and convert them into a series of children’s chapter books. To date, he has written five of the fifteen stories in the “Chel & Riley Adventures” series. Taking a break from creating children’s fiction and drama, Matthew decided to reach back, at the request from his daughter Kat, and create a fantasy world that mixed all of her favorite thematic elements. This series is currently outlined to cover five volumes; however, he is convinced that there could be many more stories that evolve out of this new universe. Matthew is a recent winner of the 2016 and 2017 NaNoWriMo challenge. He is currently working on a board game based upon the Silverwood story along with several other projects.
