An Act Lobbying for the Release of Syllabi to All Loyola Schools Students Authored by David Louis Augustus B. De Jesus, 3 SOSS Central Board Representative Be it enacted by the Central Board of the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila assembled: Whereas, this act shall also be known as, Freedom of Syllabus Information Act of 2012, Whereas, the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila, heretofore referred to as the Sanggunian, is the sole autonomous student government of the Loyola Schools,1 Whereas, the Sanggunian is mandated to defend and advance the general welfare the Ateneo student community,2 and protect the academic rights and welfare of the students,3 Whereas, the Sanggunian Central Board has the ability to recommend changes in existing University policies and structures for the good of the students,4 Whereas, the Sanggunian Central Board recognizes the students right to access to official and Public Documents, as stated in the Magna Carta of Undergraduate Student Rights, which states that students shall have access to all official public information on matters directly affecting their individual and/or collective welfare,5 Whereas, the student body has the right to initiate the formulation, modification and rejection of a school policy affecting students by making proper representation to official bodies,6 Whereas, a Course Syllabus shall be defined as a contract between an instructor of a particular course and a student, as defined and written by the professor at the beginning of a semester, Wherefore, be it resolved that the Sanggunian shall lobby to the administration of the Loyola Schools that the students of the Loyola Schools, constituents of the Sanggunian, emanating from the aforementioned rights, shall be allowed to view the syllabi of the professors of the subjects offered by the Loyola Schools for a time before online registration officially begins, Wherefore, be it resolved that the Sanggunian shall lobby to the administration of the Loyola Schools for the release of course syllabi to the student body through a system convenient for the

Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Departments, and other relevant offices in the Loyola Schools, Wherefore, be it resolved that in compliance with this, faculty and departments may release, for each subject, the previous year or previous semesters syllabi and/or common departmental syllabi in lieu of that pertaining to the current semester, Wherefore, be it finally resolved that all of the aforementioned will take effect upon approval of the Central Board via a majority vote.
