CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: March 2012 CONSULTANT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION, WORLD COUNCIL FOR CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION STUDENT CHAPTER Proposed several projects for Human Rights Education such as the reintegration of Constitutional Law courses for Education degree programs in the collegiate level; proposed a theoretical framework and a research timeline for such. VOLUNTEER TUTOR FOR ENGLISH AND BIOLOGY, GAWAD KALINGA-DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY Facilitated the review sessions for the De La Salle University College Entrance Test of the Gawad Kalinga Youth from selected GK Sites; created modules for easier retention of concepts taught. Was able to assist 30 scholars in successfully passing the DLSU College Entrance Test and the College of St. Benilde Admission Test. VICE-PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, OFFICE OF THE USG PRESIDENT; OFFICE OF THE USG VICEPRESIDENT FOR INTERNAL AFFAIRS, DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT Reviewed Academic Policies in the Student Handbook and lobbied for pro-student revisions of such policies, such as the Criteria for obtaining Graduation Awards and the De La Salle University Cultural Bill, tackling rights of Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transexual organizations to organize as well as the granting of the right of Student Organizations to express support for political candidates in the national level. Handled matters pertaining to internal linkages within the College Administration and the DLSUCentennial Office and external linkages with outside organizations such as the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), Philippines Dictionary Project, and ACT Teachers Party List. LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVE (EDUCATION GEARED TOWARDS EXCELLENCE 2008: DLSU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION BATCH 2008) DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY STUDENT COUNCIL Authored Legislations that are of relevance to the DLSU Student body, passed manifestos concerning national and sectoral issues, and monitored the performance of other Student Council Officers. Ensured the smooth transition from the Student Council to the University Student Government by authoring clarificatory guidelines and provisions. RESEARCH PAPERS PREPARED: March 2012 Teaching Concept Mapping and Outlining as Pre-writing Strategies to Improve Idea Organization in Essay Writing among 4th Year Students An Undergraduate thesis submitted to the Department of English and Applied Linguistics of the College of Education; aimed to explore the effectiveness of the process-writing approach (with specific focus on the pre-writing process and its effects to idea organization) and obtained positive results in the Theme Paper grades of the students. Pabasa: An Ethnography of Communication Studied the communication patterns in the Philippine Lenten Tradition of Pabasa by conducting interviews and analyzing video archives of said activities; focused on the levels of formality in Language use as well as the connection of such traditions to the language usage of the community involved.

JAYSON DONOR ZABALA Page 5 December 2007 GLUCON: The Hypoglycemic Activity of Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) on Alloxan-Induced ICR Mice (Mus musculus) Official Entry of Quezon City Science High School to the International Environmental Project Olympiad 2008, this research studied and analyzed the hypoglycemic (blood sugar decrease) effect in ICR mice induced with Alloxan, a chemical that promotes hyperglycemia (blood sugar increase), after administering a diet of Yacon tubers for several weeks. Using statistical methods, it was proven that Yacon tubers significantly decreased the blood sugar levels of Alloxan Induced ICR Mice.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND: Born on September 22, 1992 in the City of Manila, Philippines. Able to speak in English and Filipino. Knowledgeable in programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint and Excel), Adobe Photoshop and Pagemaker, PowerDirector and Windows Movie Maker. Has relevant training in the Understanding by Design (UbD) Paradigm and the Transformative Learning Pedagogy. Adaptable, product-oriented and passionate.
