The first step in our journey of developing healthy spiritual habits is to

spend some time hanging out with God. You can’t have

a relationship

with someone if you don’t spend any time with him.

Even though our omni-present God is with us all the time we need to setaside special relationship-building time with him...usually through thecommunion of prayer.In Luke the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. In response

Christ gives them what we refer to as “The Lord’s Prayer” to serve as a

model for us. Read it now: Matthew 6:9-13.Over time scholars and thinkers have developed a pattern for prayer

based on the Lord’s prayer and labeled it the A.C.T.S. system: Ador

a-tion, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.Today we are going to practice

ADORATION (

Matthew 6:9)What is Adoration (See the dictionary at the back of this book)?Practically...Adoration is praising God for WHO AND WHAT HE IS.List some of your favorite things about God:

Matthew 6: 9-15 "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father inheaven, hallowed be your name, 10. your kingdom come, your will bedone on earth as it is in heaven. 11. Give us today our daily bread. 12.Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13. And leadus not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ' 14. For if youforgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will alsoforgive you. 15. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father willnot forgive your sins.Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured outfor many for the forgiveness of sins.I Thess. 5:16. Be joyful always; 17. pray continually; 18 give thanks inall circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.Phillipians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, byprayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.John 10:27-28. "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and theyfollow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; nei-ther shall anyone snatch them out of My hand".



Adoration: Homage paid to one in high esteem; profound veneration;intense regard and love; fervent devotion.Attribute: something attributed as belonging to a person, thing, group,etc.; a quality, character, characteristic, or property:Sensitivity is one of his attributes.Supplication: a humble request for help from someone in authority



 



Leviticus 20:26 You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy,and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.2 Samuel 22:4 I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am savedfrom my enemies.Hebrews 6:17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of hispurpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed itwith an oath.Revelation 4:2.11 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was athrone in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3. And the onewho sat therehad the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling anemerald, encircled the throne. 4. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. Theywere dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads.5. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are theseven spirits of God. 6. Also before the throne there was what looked likea sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were fourliving creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.7. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, thethird had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.8. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered witheyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop say-ing: "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, WHOWAS, AND IS, AND IS TO COME." 9. Whenever the living creaturesgive glory,honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who livesfor ever and ever, 10. the twenty-four elders fall down before himwhosits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They laytheir crowns before the throne and say: 11. "Youare worthy, our Lordand God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created allthings, and by your will they were created and have their being."



 
