Hello. I hope this finds you all doing well. Remember to avoid over heating drink plenty of water. I was doing some research and came across planet X. A website filled with information of whats taking place. Now I am no UFO chaser nor do I scare from ghosts or whatever phenom. Point being that there have been predictions from the ancient times that are right one the money. Does it interest you to know what they say will take place by this years end? I do not write this to make you panic. I find it interesting with a twinge of nervousness. Presently, planet Earth is a real hotbed/battleground of political, religious, financial, environmental issues threatening to tear apart the fragile structure of our present-day 21 st century civilization. So lets begin with the future as we see it developing on planet Earths 2009/2012 event horizon. Hopefully, well view the future together with a more positive, no nonsense, lets-face-it attitude. Earths calendar date in summer/fall 2007 will find our fragile blue world in dire crisis. Consider the facts of overpopulation, global warming, a badly depleted ozone layer, rain forest devastation, uncontrollable wildfires and hurricanes, typhoons, storms, tornadoes bringing global flooding, tsunamis and droughts. Arctic-Antarctic meltdowns, mass extinctions of multiple plant and wildlife species, widespread famines, deadly disease outbreaks of animal and human originsall of which are collectively taking a heavy toll on human, plant and animal lifenot to mention billions upon billions of dollars in global property damage, lost wages, the economy and major consumer disruptions to the everyday needs of its citizens. Mother Nature takes no prisonersgives no quarterand she remains uncontrollable. Are all the stories about UFOs and ETs associated with the return of X true? And could the modern-day mythos surrounding the subject of UFOs, ETs, crashed flying saucers, human contactees/abductees, cattle mutilations, the wheat crop circle phenomenon, the Grays, U.S. astronaut encounters with UFOs on the moon, and those constant nagging rumors that many of the worlds major governments are deliberately hiding, or at best covering up the truth about todays UFO/ET phenomenologygiving rise to further speculation that quite possibly the Biblical Nefilim (those ETs often associated with the subject of Xs return)may already be back on Earth a wee bit early perhapsbut back here neverthelessand with a bold new game plan for helping us out (via the Rapture scenario) when Revelations Wormwood returns again? YES!! We truly believe so!! And we also believe that as 2009 and 2012 soon approacheswe will begin seeing an ever-increasing number of verifiable, documented UFO sightings occurring and developing on a massive global scale. Expect the phenomenon to intensify explode! The governments of all over the world have recently disclosed secret documents about UFOs and their findings. I think 1 general documented over 37 species. He commented, they look a lot like us. That was said over 50 yrs. ago. Read the details as they release them. Not only is there contact knowledge with ETs but they seem to know more of us than we do of them. Several articles I read also mentioned of how to be prepared in the case of a food shortage, which products are the best to buy now so to have at least a months supply of food. It too, was quite interesting. As a kid I always heard to live each day as if its your last. Time will tell for the predictions have all been made. Have a great week!

WALTON COUNTY- MOSQUITO-BORNE ILLNESS ADVISORY - Numbers serve as important reminder for Florida residents and visitors to take proactive measures against mosquitoes WALTON COUNTY - This is to advise that there has been increased mosquito-borne disease activity in areas of Walton County. Several sentinel chickens have tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). The risk of transmission to humans has increased. Walton County Health Department reminds residents and visitors to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes that may cause encephalitis disease. Walton County Mosquito Control, South Walton Mosquito Control and the health department continue surveillance and prevention efforts and encourage everyone to take basic precautions to help limit exposure by following the department of health recommendations. To protect yourself from mosquitoes, you should remember to 'DRAIN AND COVER.' DRAIN standing water to stop mosquitoes from multiplying: Drain water from garbage cans, house gutters, buckets, pool covers, coolers, toys, flower pots or any other containers where sprinkler or rain water has collected. Discard old tires, drums, bottles, cans, pots and pans, broken appliances and other items that aren't being used. Empty and clean birdbaths and pet's water bowls at least once or twice a week. Protect boats and vehicles from rain with tarps that don't accumulate water. Maintain swimming pools in good condition and appropriately chlorinated. Empty plastic swimming pools when not in use. COVER skin with clothing or repellent: CLOTHING: Wear shoes, socks, and long pants and long-sleeves. This type of protection may be necessary for people who must work in areas where mosquitoes are present. REPELLENT: Apply mosquito repellent to bare skin and clothing. Always use repellents according to the label. Repellents with DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, and IR3535 are effective. Use mosquito netting to protect children younger than 2 months old. COVER doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house: Repair broken screening on windows, doors, porches and patios. Tips on Repellent Use Always read label directions carefully for the approved usage before you apply a repellent. Some repellents are not suitable for children. Products with concentrations of up to 30 percent DEET are generally recommended. Other US Environmental Protection Agency-approved repellents contain Picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR 3535. These products are generally available at local pharmacies. Look for active ingredients to be listed on the product label. Apply insect repellent to exposed skin, or onto clothing, but not under clothing. In protecting children, read label instructions to be sure the repellent is ageappropriate. According to the CDC, mosquito repellents containing oil of lemon eucalyptus should not be used on children under the age of 3 years. DEET is not recommended on children younger than 2 months old. Avoid applying repellents to the hands of children. Adults should apply repellent first to their own hands and then transfer it to the child's skin and clothing. If additional protection is necessary, apply a permethrin repellent directly to your clothing. Again, always follow the manufacturer's directions. The Florida Department of Health (DOH) continues to conduct statewide surveillance for mosquito borne illnesses, including West Nile virus infections, Eastern equine Encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, malaria, and dengue. Resident of Florida are encouraged to report dead birds to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission web site at http://www.myfwc.com/bird/. School District Grades

Like the students they serve, the schools and the school districts also get a grade. This year saw a number of drops, but the state says this is expected as the grades are based on new higher standards, so it is not exactly apples to apples. We recently reported on the elementary and middle school grades, here is a look at four area districts. Holmes County and Washington County both dropped from a B to a C. Okaloosa stayed at an A and Walton dropped from an A to a B. This is the first time in a number of years Walton did not make an A, but it does not necessarily mean the district dropped in performance over last year. The state Department of Education explains, as Florida moves to FCAT 2.0 and eventually to a system that allows Florida to get reports equal to other states, the vigor has increased. This means the requirements for study have increased and to make the same grade takes more work. The state says whenever a move to increased vigor happens, the scores reflect a drop, but as the students step up to the challenge they also step up to the higher grade at a higher level of learning. Walton Superintendent of Schools Carlene Anderson explains the comparison to last years grade is not accurate as the district is now under FCAT 2.0. She says as the students work moves from peak to peak, the height of their learning has not gone down, rather the requirements to achieve the grade has gone up. An example would be a student taking a regular class versus an honors class. A student might make an A in a regular class, but only a B in an honors class. Since the class is an honors class, it is known that the B is actually as good or better than an A in the regular class. However the scoring stays the same. As the student works to reach the A in the higher rigor honors class, he or she also is recognized to be making an A in a tougher class. The state feels this is the case with the drop in school grades.

Lately, I noticed an increase of patients telling me what they read online when it comes to their illness. It almost makes me think that you can lead yourself to believe you have a symptom of based from what is put online. Id like to address this more. The proliferation of web diagnosis sites like WebMD and MedicineNet are both a blessing and a curse for those seeking a diagnosis. On the positive side, information about the symptoms of various diseases and their potential treatment options is now easier and less expensive to find. However, web diagnosis sites have a number of drawbacks as well.

WebMD, one of the most popular web diagnosis sites, certainly has a wealth of information about any disease, condition or symptom you have. You can look up lists of symptoms, find out how an illness is diagnosed, learn about home and medical treatment options and find out who is most likely to be at risk for a particular illness. If you are unable to see a doctor and would like as much information as possible about what is troubling you or a loved one, WebMD or any other diagnosis site is certainly informative.

Are web diagnosis sites reliable?

Although web diagnosis sites are convenient, they are not replacements for physician visits. Since many symptoms of various illness overlap, it is easy to confuse one condition for another, potentially preventing you from getting the proper care you need. In addition, psychiatrists have found that web diagnosis sites may exacerbate hypochondria, as they provide more information than is necessary for a proper diagnosis. Web diagnosis sites are helpful, but make sure to use the information cautiously. If you are a concerned about certain symptoms, it is always a good idea to check with a physician.

Everyone has sort of backed off about Freeport Fire Department. We haven't been in the news every day for a while now. The Department is doing fine under the Sheriff Department's volunteer management. I did not see Walton County Fire Fighters at the last council meeting; I was anxious to hear them tell the City Council how to run this government. But all in all, it did help the Daily News sell a bunch of newspapers, so it helped somebody. We have had some rain lately and the grass is growing. It's been hard to keep it cut the way we would like it, but we are trying. We have a new business coming to the Industrial Park this year. They are supposed to break ground and build shortly. This should employ some people. The EDA is interviewing another company this week and showing property. Hopefully, they will pick our area, but anywhere in Walton County would help. The EDA is working to get employment in this county. This is a joint effort of all three cities and Walton County working together. Some things that are going on now: The City is bidding for the construction of two new ball-fields at the Regional Park. Power bills at the Regional Park are coming down with the solar panels and meter splits that were installed last year; this should help out a lot. The City Council meets the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday....come join us. Mayor Marse

Heat Safety
As reported by WZEP AM1460 With the recent report of local resident Luther Ates passing after a heat related problem, we asked the Florida Department of Health for some reminders about heat safety. The Departments says, as Floridians, we may be biased when we say that Florida is the hottest place to live, work and play! The Center for Disease Control says the best defense is prevention. Here are some prevention tips: - Drink more fluids (nonalcoholic), regardless of your activity level. Dont wait until youre thirsty to drink. - Dont drink liquids that contain alcohol or large amounts of sugarthese actually cause you to lose more body fluid. Also, avoid very cold drinks, because they can cause stomach cramps. - Stay indoors and, if at all possible, stay in an air-conditioned place. If your home does not have air conditioning, go to the shopping mall or public libraryeven a few hours spent in air conditioning can help your body stay cooler when you go back into the heat. - Electric fans may provide comfort, but when the temperature is in the high 90s, fans will not prevent heat-related illness. Taking a cool shower or bath, or moving to an air-conditioned place is a much better way to cool off. - Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. - NEVER leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle. - Although anyone at any time can suffer from heat-related illness, some people are at greater risk than others. Check regularly on: - Infants and young children - People aged 65 or older - People who have a mental illness - Those who are physically ill, especially with heart disease or high blood pressure - Visit adults at risk at least twice a day and closely watch them for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Infants and young children, of course, need much more frequent watching.

WALTON COUNTY ISSUES

After discussions with a large number of Walton County citizens, I believe the following issues are of most concern; The public has no confidence in our county government. We need to restore confidence by strictly adhering to the Sunshine Law and Public Records Law with completely open and transparent governance. *Our citizens do not feel that their commissioners listen or respond to their concerns and opinions. We need to foster better communications and feedback between our government and the citizens. This means we work together as one county and not as North or South Walton. * I heard a lot of complaints about inconsistencies in dealing with development requests. This is unacceptable and should be easily corrected. * Many feel that our Scenic Corridor rules are ambiguous and inconsistently enforced. Similar concerns about Code Enforcement and Zoning. There needs to be a thorough review and clarification. * We need to entice more businesses and industry to our county to lessen the impact of a downturn in tourism. * We need to run the county as a business rather than an entity that can agree to spend money it doesn't have by simply increasing or imposing a new tax. I'd rather look at ways to cut spending. * We need to evaluate and redefine the role of our TDC. At the same time, we should not overreact because of the outrageous actions of the Okaloosa County TDC.

And if you must be out in the heat:

- Limit your outdoor activity to morning and evening hours. - Cut down on exercise. If you must exercise, drink two to four glasses of cool, nonalcoholic fluids each hour. A sports beverage can replace the salt and minerals you lose in sweat. Warning: If you are on a low-salt diet, talk with your doctor before drinking a sports beverage. Remember the warning in the first tip (above), too. - Try to rest often in shady areas. - Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat (also keeps you cooler) and sunglasses and by putting on sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher (the most effective products say broad spectrum or UVA/UVB protection on their labels).

Obituary for Joan D. Pearce

Mrs. Joan D. Pearce, age 77, of Miramar Beach, Florida passed away at home July 3, 2012. She was born June 7, 1935 in Clarence, Pennsylvania to William and Evelyn Hoover Dudish. Mrs. Pearce was a resident of Miramar Beach, Florida; she was originally from Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania. She was Christian by faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid golfer and a very talented cook, seamstress and decorator. Her memory will always be cherished as her light will shine forever in the hearts of her family and friends. Mrs. Pearce is preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband of 57 years, Richard P. Pearce. Mrs. Pearce is survived by one son, Rich Pearce and wife Christy of Miramar Beach, Florida; two daughters, Dorrie Taber of Miramar Beach, Florida; Leslie Fletcher and husband Tim of Paw Paw, Michigan; one brother, William Dudish and wife Betty; one sister, Dorothy Morgan and husband William all of Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jason Pearce and wife Ruth, Eric Pearce, Amanda Smith and husband Nick, Tim Fletcher and 4 great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Grace, McKenna and Jackson. Memorial services will held 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home; 150 East Highway 20; Freeport, Florida 32439; with Pastors Tom Hamon and Jane Hamon officiating. DFS Police Give Identity theft and Domestic Violence Presentation

Anyone can become a victim and you need to learn the warning signs. Members from the DeFuniak Springs Police presented two presentations at Woodridge Apartments concerning Domestic Violence and Identity Theft. The police say the presentations to the residents showed that hearing real life experiences and education could be the key to their own safety and helped them realize no one is exempted from these types of crimes. With audience participation, several educational examples were given to help the attendees recognize the warning signs and how to reduce the chances of being a victim identity theft or domestic violence. The DeFuniak Springs Police say they want to thank the citizens of Woodridge for the invitation to come and educate them on these types of incidents. Chief Mark A. Weeks says the department is devoted to providing services to all citizens and groups in DeFuniak Springs.

The contracted company that takes care of the citys water and wastewater made an offer to save the city, though they would get a slight raise. Brent Stafford with CH2MHILLOMI presented a proposal for DeFuniak Springs and its residents. As the City Council met in workshop session to discuss the budget, they heard a proposal that included an investment that could be a continued savings. The Council was told the EPA mandated fees and other costs means they company needs to have an increase. The contract allows for an annual increase. However, after the Council asked them last year for help, the company returned with a proposed increase that is 3.75% less than the automatic one of over 4%. They also offered to make a $30k investment for a Watt Mizer, a device that has shown to provide a savings for neighboring Crestview. CH2MHILL will invest and install the capacitor device on wells, blowers and lift stations for savings that could be $10,000 or more a year. After the three year pay-off the devices would continue to save the city. The capacitors are used on large motors that start and stop frequently. They have been used by the military since the 50s. CH2MHILL asked for an contract renewal this year for the contract that is supposed to be renewed next year. They asked for a 6-year renewal in exchange for the equipment upgrade. The Council was reminded the company have upgraded software, sponsors the annual League of Cities meeting, have gone to manual cleaning of lift stations from grease, have added a chlorine tank cover and have worked on local projects. These all provide a savings to the city. Council member Ron Kelley said he likes the idea of long term planning and agrees with the proposal. Kelly says it starts the city on a path to savings. Project Manager Jane Swift works with Jason ODaniels on sustainability. They are looking at using natural gas. She says the city has been chosen to participate on a project with sustainability. Swift says DeFuniak Springs and a city in Georgia have been chosen. Her vision is for DeFuniak Springs to be the example for this area. When asked about why this wasn't done in the past, the answer was there was not a great need to save electricity but now there is. The budget request is for renewal of the contract now instead of next year. In exchange they will make the $30,000 investment that could save the city and its residents. Council member Wayne Graham said he supports the request and to place it in the budget. Graham asked about savings of power from the equipment. It was agreed this could be placed into the contract in the future. The council took no action since this was a workshop, but agreed to have staff place it in the budget for a later vote. The Council also looked at the nonprofit organization requests. Council member Mac Work said he thinks all organizational requests should be cut this year. The organizational requests actually went up this year and Work said they do not need to go up, they need to go down. He recommended they go to last years amounts and then cut 5 percent. The council agreed to the recommendation. No vote was taken in the workshop, but a vote will come up at a later Council Meeting.

Obituary for Willie Joe Davis

Mr. Joe Davis, age 67, of Freeport passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was born March 25, 1945 in Lockhart, Alabama to Willie and Kathleen Martin Davis. Mr. Davis was a resident of Freeport. He was Pentecostal by faith and a member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church of Pensacola. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country in the United States Army. He worked in maintenance at One Seagrove Place for several years. He enjoyed fishing, and watching television. He also enjoyed his pit bulldog Blue. Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Sara Ann Ficklin and two brothers Willie Don Davis and Larry Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife Shirley Mann of Freeport; one daughter Jodi Ann Davis of Pensacola; one brother Willie Royce Davis and wife Betty of Birmingham, Alabama and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers family request donations may be made to the Fallen Veterans Memorial in Freeport at P.O. The story of Halcyons life, as related to her by a woman of questionable intent, will bring you back in again and again starving for the tale of her life and ancestors. This is a perfect read for those dark, stormy nights when you are all alone.

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

Regrettably, I could not finish even the first paragraph of this book. The part I did read was so baffling I, sadly, gave up. Filled to the brim with the Indian language, I highly doubt anyone whose first language isnt that of India could finish this book. If you see this book anywhere, do not pick it up. The language and the syntax are both equally confusing.

If you have ever watched the television show, Family Guy, then you know what to expect from Ted. If you are a fan of Family Guy, American Dad, and other shows from Seth Farland, then you will love this movie. Ted is a film about a little boy who gets a teddy bear for Christmas and develops a friendship that can only be held between a boy and his bear. The boy makes a wish that his teddy bear could talk back to him and magically the next morning he awakes to a talking, real life teddy bear. The living teddy bear, named Ted, becomes famous for being exactly what he is, but even through all the television talk shows and fame, Ted maintains his friendship with the boy. The two grow up together and when the boy (played by Mark Wahlberg) falls in love (Mila Kunis) he is forced to choose between growing up and starting a family, or staying with Ted, who is just holding him back. This movie was dirty, gross, and filled with profanity, drug use, and tons of hilarity. However, it wasnt as bad as I anticipated, and it was even funnier than I thought it would be. This film is not intended for children, and as always, screen the movie for yourself before letting your child see this film.

Thursday, July 26, 2012 WALTON AND DEFUNIAK SPRINGS QUEENS LUNCH WITH DISTRICT 5 COMMISSIONER CECILIA JONES The Walton County and DeFuniak Springs queens lunched at District Five with Commissioner Cecilia Jones during their "South Walton for a Day Tour" on Monday, July 16th. These young queens started their tour in WaterColor with a journey through the beautiful WaterColor Gardens. After lunch, they continued on to visit Crystal Bay Rehab Center where they graciously brought joy to some of the elderly citizens of Walton County. They savored an island dinner at Cheeseburger In Paradise and then completed their day enjoying the children's outdoor play series, Beanie and the Bamboozling Book Machine by the Seaside Repertory Theater at the Seaside Amphitheater. "It was so good to have these beautiful girls visiting District 5 and each of them represents Walton County and DeFuniak Springs so well," said Jones. "They exhibited inner loveliness as well as natural beauty and it was a privilege to have them grace our office. It is encouraging to see the future of Walton County active and engaged in our community."

only 44% of the children in the court system have a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem, Freeport has lots of cases that need volunteers. Please consider volunteering, it only takes a few hours a month after you are trained, and makes a big difference in the life of a local child.
