Durban project really has been an incredible experience, for both the students participating in ministry and the people our students have been reaching out to. Internally, we took a crew of 35 teenagers from around the world and asked God to speak into their lives in a way that transcends cultures and experiences, and he delivered so much more than we could have imagined - an internal ministry shown by the close bonds of friendship and love our students have for each other. Externally, we were able to go into schools and present the SmartChoices curriculum, a set of lessons that teaches students about the dangers of AIDS, how to make good, forward-thinking choices, and then concludes with a clear presentation of the Gospel by showing students the full Jesus Film for Children! Presenting the Gospel in schools is an opportunity that many of us wont be able to experience again, and its been such an incredible blessing to be able to do that and teach in a way that glories God.
Hey everyone! This year MK2MK did an exciting new style of project, with half of the students going to the city of Durban, while the other half did ministry near the city of Port Shepstone. Because of the split, weve divided the newsletter into two parts - half for the city of Durban and half for the Shepstone area. We hope you enjoy seeing how God used the project achieve His work.
Our beach evangelism team led someone to Christ, and that was the rst time Id led someone to a relationship with God. Over the course of this project, Ive realized the only way I can achieve for God is through the Spirit, and it was only after Id surrendered myself and asked God to work through me that I saw fruit. - Max, Bulgaria/USA
God is so good. Before project started, someone told me not to expect anything less than a miracle from God, and I wondered - could I expect a miracle from God? I didnt think so. But I prayed to God that Id believe what I was asking, and He came through! God exceeded my expectations through good and bad. I took God out of the box Id put him in, and through every step of this trip, God has been there, and he is good. - Bekah, Ukraine
God didnt bring out a bunch of perfect people to my country; He individually chose every one of them and brought them, not because of the value they add to the team, but because He and He alone could save lives through a willing heart - and not a perfect one. Its so ki to see students put down their own futures to add to His future! - Phil, South Africa I wish I could say the project was exactly what I expected it would be, but it wasnt. In fact, it was completely dierent from what Id hoped it to be. But God has shown me how much better his plan for my life is compared to my own. Its caused me to put more trust in his strength and guidance through this whole process. - Alec, Central Asia.
One awesome example of the way our internal ministry spilled out into the world around us was through our interaction with our bus driver Nelson. He shuttled us around from the compound in Durban to the schools out in the township of Ntuzuma, about a 45 minute drive each way - and for much of the time, Nelson talked to Darin Dolson, our project director. Over time, Darin initiated with Nelson about his life, history, and religious background. After several conversations about faith, Nelson trusted in Jesus as his savior. We felt that it was such a testament to our ministry, that we werent just going to schools, teaching, and then leaving - but that we could actually make an impact in our everyday lives, and that our mission wasnt a simple curriculum, but to change lives for Christ, wherever we were.
