Why is there a worm in my drink?

Because it is a shot of Monte Alban mezcal. The worms live in the agave plant and are hand-harvested during the rainy summer season in Mexican villages. The worm is what makes mezcal unique; it is added as a reminder that it comes from the plant from which the alcohol is made. Some people even eat the worm, would you?
