COCA-COLA BOTTLING COMPANY OF WINONA COMMEMORATES LAST RUN OF 6.5 OZ. GLASS RETURNABLE BOTTLES IN THE U.S.

Bottles to be sold to raise money for the Lake Winona Pedestrian and Bicycle Path
Winona, Minn. Oct. 9 Winona Coca-Cola Bottling Company has enjoyed 80 years of sharing happiness and refreshment in the community with their 6.5 oz. returnable glass bottles and other valued Coca-Cola products. Today, local legislators, residents and Coca-Colas own Senior Vice President of Franchise Relations and Vice President of Heritage Communications gathered to watch the last 6.5 oz. returnable glass bottle run. Its an honor and pleasure for the City of Winona to have played a role in the Coca-Cola glass bottling story as it evolved through the years under the ownership and management of the CocaCola Bottling Company of Winona, said Mayor Jerry Miller. We look forward to being a part of their continued success as a viable business and employer in our community. Starting on October 15, the 6.5 oz. commemorative bottles will be sold for twenty dollars each plus shipping and handling, with all proceeds going to raise money for the Lake Winona Pedestrian and Bicycle Path restoration project. This fundraiser builds on the Winona Bottling Companys 80-year commitment to the community. For details on how to order a commemorative glass bottle from this final 6.5 oz. production run, see: http://cocacolawinona.wordpress.com/. We have greatly enjoyed producing 6.5 oz. returnable bottles for all of these years, said LeRoy Telstad, General Manager and Vice President of Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona. Independent Coca-Cola bottlers like ours have established strong roots in communities around the country and helped The Coca-Cola Company become what it is today. We look forward to continuing to serve customers in this area with Coca-Cola products and being a strong supporter of our community.
