HOLIDAY WORLD TAKES THE PLUNGE INTO CASH RECYCLING

Holiday World & Splashin Safari, the #1 pick in the 2011 list of TripAdvisor.coms Top 10 Water Parks in the U.S knows a thing or two about organizing and project planning and handling currency on a daily basis. The 140-acre park was the worlds first theme park and includes top-ranked roller coasters, themed family rides and water slides, plus two water coasters, the newest of which, the appropriately named, Mammoth, is the worlds longest water coaster. When the family-owned Holiday World & Splashin Safari, of Santa Claus, Indiana, wanted to increase efficiencies in the operations cash management, they considered many options to reduce labor costs and make the cash room process more efficient and secure. The decision was ultimately made to choose GLORY cash automation products to update a decades-old framework of manually handling cash and coin within the cash room. After a thorough analysis of the existing cash room process, Holiday World & Splashin Safari senior management recognized that there were far too many steps requiring the manual handling of currency when processing the receipt bags. This opened the possibility for security breaches; the additional labor required to overcome these possibilities negatively impacted the bottom line. The solution came with the installation of the GLORY RGB-300 iCR Intelligent Cash Recycler and the SDRC-100 Coin Recycler, reducing the final number of steps by 58% resulting in higher efficiency and heightened security. Holiday World realized immediate results from the improved workflow process and the reduction in the number of steps to process a bag. This allowed for a remarkable 66% reduction of cash-room staffing hours. The process also allows improvement in the accuracy of cash room balancing and accuracy for every cashier. Security was tremendously improved. Before the GLORY cash recycling system was installed, the cash room would receive calls from cashiers reporting that their bags were short cash. With recycling, these shortages were eliminated and there were no discrepancies of cash in any bags since the installation of the GLORY RGB-300 and SDRC-100 system. Holiday World & Splashin Safaris business is one in which the ratio of staff to guest is a part of the quality of the customer experience. As of mid-October, 2012, Holiday World & Splashin Safari realized a 40% cost savings in cash room labor, plus a 66% reduction in that departments staffing levels; a 100% return in cash losses contained within the workflow process. An additional benefit was a 50% reduction in the amount of cash-onhand needed to process bags and change orders.
