PATRICK DECOSTE

Show Me The Way To Go Home

If you follow the Boston media closely, youll find Patrick DeCoste (pronounced De-Coast) being described as the fusion guitar ace1 who is one of the most under-rated guitarists in the area2. With a great ear for chord voicings and progressions, as well as solos and melodies3, he sounds like U2 but with Van Halen-esque soloing4. While cultivating a fanatical fanbase5, DeCoste "can and will rip it up, he just wont make a big show of it6. Such praise is bound to continue with his 2nd full-length digitally mastered release, Show Me The Way To Go Home (SMTWTGH). While spending the past few years catching the attention of Grammy-nominated artists and world-renown guitar heroes alike, DeCoste has performed at such venues as Shea Stadium and in the orchestra pit for HAIRSPRAY which has helped him come into his own as a producer, songwriter, guitarist and musician. With SMTWTGH, DeCoste takes us for a journey creating a joyful noise combining feel-good acoustic numbers (Hello World and Sln Abhaile) with wide ranging classic and modern rock stompers (Perfect People, The Dirty South and Mark Twain). Using his effect pedals to enhance the driving rhythms and tasty melodies, vintage DeCoste is on full display with De Monarchia and is effortlessly followed up by the melodic power ballad, Saudade (written after the passing of his grandfather). Hints of the past (from The Throwback to the title track to the aptly titled Marvin Berrys Cousin) compliment nods to the present (Generation: Try! and Not In VAIn tip the hat to todays modern instrumentalists). Show Me The Way To Go Home tells a story. Whether through an overdriven amp or simply armed with an acoustic guitar, Patrick DeCostes music has the ability to help us make that story our own. Not bad for someone who lets his music do the talking.
