CARNIVAL GAME PROJECT

The purpose of this project is to research carnival games and games of chance, to build a working model of a carnival type game, to use that model to collect data, to use that data to compare the experimental and theoretical probabilities that apply to your game, and to apply those probabilities to the financial aspect of running such a game. The 3 parts of this project must be complete and demonstrate work of the highest quality. Part 1: Group Proposal (20 pts) Due Date: _____________________

Your group must complete and submit a plan for approval that includes the following: A. A detailed description of the game you are going to build a model of (5 pts) B. A list of materials you are planning to use to build the working model and how you plan to obtain them (consider recycling or repurposing) (5pts) C. A list of specific group members responsibilities (5pts) D. Research summary describing 3 games you researched, a brief description of how you would calculate probabilities for each game, and the source of your information. (5pts) Part 2: Playable / Working Model of Game (40 pts) Due Date: _____________________ A. Construction / Appearance: must be appropriately sized, carefully made, and shows evidence of work. (10 pts) B. Rules: are clearly explained and easy to follow. (10 pts) C. Playable: game is easy to play (not easy to win). (10 pts) D. Models probability appropriately. (10 pts) Part 3: Report (40 pts) Due Date: _____________________

Your report may be written in report form, on a poster, or in a power point or other appropriate presentation format but MUST contain the following: A. B. C. D. Summary of game rules / description of game (5 pts) Table of data collected from playing game must be 50 + (5 pts) Experimental and Theoretical probabilities calculated and explained (15 pts) Financial Report for running the game for 100 plays (15 pts)
