Solving Special Linear Equations

By L.D.

Problem 1 (solve using substitution)

2x - 3y = 6 2x - 3y = -4

Problem 1 (solve using substitution)

2x - 3y = 6 2x - 3y = -4

The answer is obviously No Solution since the answers are different, but the problems are the same. In this case there is no possible answer.

Problem 2 (solve using elimination)

4x 2y = 8 2x 4 = y

Problem 2 (solve using elimination)

4x 2y = 8 2x 4 = y

In this case, everything turned out so perfectly that it was all canceled out in the end. The answer here however is not all real numbers it is Infinitely Many Solutions.

Problem 3 (solve using graphing)

x 2y = -4 x + 2 =y

Problem 3 (solve using graphing)

Problem 3 (solve using elimination)

In this case where both the lines end up in the exact same place, we get infinitely many solutions yet again.

Problem 4 (solve using graphing)

x + y = -1 -x + 5 = y

Problem 4 (solve using graphing)

Problem 4 (solve using elimination)

In this case where the lines are exactly parallel to one-another and no line will touch the other the verdict is called No Solution.
