Although I had a bit of a moan about the Olympics last month, I have to admit that the Games were aphenomenal success, which I enjoyed immensely. An invite from Eley meant that Target Shooter got
to enjoy the nal of the Men’s Three Position Rie event from a privileged position; an exciting eventwon by Eley sponsored Niccolo Campriani (Italy) after a dramatic top ten shoot-o.British Shooting exceeded medal expectations thanks to Peter Wilson’s Gold Medal in the Men’sDouble Trap. Of the 19 Olympic disciplines contested by Team GB, only ve exceeded one gold medaland six failed to win gold. Let’s hope that someone notices when funding is considered, though I’mnot optimistic. Full Olympic results at www.london2021/shootingEven more good news for British shooting comes from Camp Perry in the USA where Great Britain’sDavid Luckman was crowned NRA 2012 Long Range Rie Champion with Team GB taking secondplace to Team USA. Check out www.nrablog.com for full results.Hopefully, the 2012 Olympics will ‘Inspire a Generation’ and a few of those will beshooters. There are hundreds of shooting clubs throughout the UK and we must be
ready to capitalize on the Games to recruit more people into shooting and in particular
to Olympic disciplines. The ght for the return of our pistols must continue.Thank you all for your support – it is much appreciated.

The Long View by Les Holgate.
A regular column by  which we keep up to date with all matters F Class and theactivities o the GB F Class Association. With a good proportion o the regular GBFCA crew overin Raton, New Mexico, on a scouting trip or next year’s World F Class Championships, we always knew the entry or Diggle would be a little thin on the ground but, as itturned out, we still had a near ull eld o shooters orround 5 o the GB F Class League.

Over thelast ew years, the Tikka T3 has gained a good reputationas a great sporting rife straight rom the box, withcrisp trigger-pull, a detachable magazine system andan accuracy guarantee. What happens when Tikka go`Tactical`...
Fity Years o the Remington 700 – a tribute by Chris Parkin.
1962 - a group o our Liverpool lads started up the Beatles, Dr. No wasthe rst James Bond to hit our screens and the Cuban Missile Crisisbrought the world to the doorstep o disintegration. A small ootnoteon the ’62 calendar might also mention what has become one o themost revolutionary and copied rife actions that shooting has yet seen- the Remington 700.
The Fly Shoot – Diggle Ranges, 26 August 2012.
When I openedthe curtains at seven in the morning, it was teeming down! So muchor the Met Oce! By eight, the rain had all but stopped and, asI drove into the already ull Diggle car park at nine o-clock, it wasthankully dry!

Carrying on rom the July issue o Target Shooter where I covered recently introduced products, let’s have a look at changes in the nature o the industry that makes and supplies our handloading propellants, also prole that under-appreciated but very useul powder, Vihtavuori N150.

The Airbus A320 banked rom its 39,000 eetceiling and started on its descent to, as we thought, ParisCharles De Gaulle Airport. Some twenty minutes beore theestimated landing time the captain inormed the passengersthat he was diverting south to Paris Orly, due to the severeelectrical storms engulng the airspace above Charles deGaulle. Groans all round as the aircrat bounced and rolledas it descended through the turbulence o the edge o thestorm system.
The 2012 London Olympic Games.
Media coverageo the Games was, or me, the best ever. We had severaldedicated Olympic TV channels, all in high denitionoering antastic coverage o almost every minute o every sport. I managed to watch plenty o shooting andarchery, in addition to the track & eld events.
