PARKING BAN IN DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN


(New Haven) A downtown parking ban will go into effect Friday night at 10 pm and will end at 9 am on Saturday. The downtown parking ban encompasses the area bound by Howe Street, Tower Parkway, Grove Street, State Street and North Frontage Road. Cars that remain parked on downtown streets during the parking ban will be towed. FREE PARKING: Because of the parking ban, the Parking Authority will make the following lots and garages available, free of charge, to residents beginning at 3 pm today until Sunday at 12 Noon only. 1. Surface Lot at Chapel and Franklin Street 2. Surface Lot at Chestnut Street 3. Surface Lot at State and Pulaski 4. Surface Lot at Grand Avenue and East Pearl St. 5. Granite Square Garage DISCOUNTED LOTS: The following downtown Parking Authority garages will be available for residents at a discounted rate of $3 a day, beginning 3 pm today through 12 noon on Sunday only.
