Dear families, Thank you parents and carers for attending this weeks after school meetings with class teachers. We appreciate your joint efforts in enhancing your childs understanding and progressing next steps in their learning. Have an enjoyable half-term. Melanie Dye M

Attendance
Congratulations must go to Class 1W and Class 5W for their attendance last week This week winners were: Class 1W and Class 4J

Thank yous to The Hindu Centre in Ilford for welcoming our Year 3 children. The Drama Centre in Woodford for hosting a visit from Y2. The Limes Farm Synagogue for allowing our Y4 children to visit.

Attendance for last week was 96% This weeks attendance was 93% Our target is 96%

WHY GOOD ATTENDANCE MATTERS FOR OUR YOUNGER CHILDREN Statistically, a child with poor attendance in KS1 is likely to Have learning gaps by the time they get to KS2 this places them at a disadvantage not only in KS2 but also when they get to secondary school Have greater difficulty in forming lasting friendships at school Be less confident with their learning Currently attendance in KS1 is poor way below 94% whereas in KS2 it is 97%. Why is this? Think very carefully about keeping your child off school unless directed by the doctor. Missing school now is likely to affect your childs future.

Parking in and Around the School As you know, parking around the school has led to a number of complaints being directed towards the school and the local authority. Too many parents are parking inconsiderately around the school and in the neighbourhood and we really need this to stop. John Bramston works hard to foster good relationships with the local residents and the thoughtless actions of just a few are ruining years of hard work.

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day was held last week. The children learnt about e-safety and discussed how to show respect and responsibility when using the internet. Many children took part in a competition where they had to find out what Hector was disguised as. A big well done to Laura in Y2C who won the icecream cupcakes which were kindly donated by Miss Walker. Please check out the family page on the school website where you will find links to e-safety websites for parents. We have been informed that a parent of a pupil at an Essex school received a phone call from someone purporting to be an Educational Welfare Officer, and was asked to pay a fine over the telephone with her credit card. We would like to ask our parents that should you receive a call of this nature, please do not divulge any card details as the Educational Welfare Service would not ask for this information over the telephone.

Author Visit
Antony Lishak, a published author, will be visiting our school on Friday 1st March. He will be working with all the children in the school and the children will be able to purchase signed copies of his stories at the end of the day. A book list will be sent home after half term.
