CANYON VIEWS
A+ SCHOOL DRIVEN BY CHILDRENS NEEDS
Principals Message:
Dear Canyon View Families, I hope everyone had a nice Rodeo Break and that the blast of winter weather provided some excitement for you and your families. Today report cards are being sent home and our teachers have spent numerous hours preparing the reports and writing comments. If you have any questions regarding your childs progress or the information that is contained on the report card please contact your childs teacher and they will be happy to review the report with you. On March 9-10 the Tucson Festival of Books will again be held at the University of Arizona. An email was sent earlier this week with details of the various events and authors who will be attending this years festival. If you are planning on attending this popular event,be sure to stop by to visit us in the main area at booth #473. In response to last months successful readathon, Canyon Views FFO will be hosting a Star Party on Thursday, March 14 from 6-8 p.m. This years Star Party will have a wide variety of hands-on learning opportunities for children and adults alike. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with the Tucson Amateur Astronomers and look up at the night sky through their high-powered telescopes, check out moon rocks that are on loan from NASA, and handle (and take home) real meteorites that have been discovered from around the world. There are many more unique and fun learning opportunities for our students and families and we hope to see you there! On Friday, March 15, we will be on half-day schedule due to spring conferences. Since it is only a halfday, teachers generally plan on holding conferences with just a few families. Each grade level has a separate conference plan that suits their grade level conguration. If your childs teacher(s) feel that a conference is needed you should be hearing from them in the coming days. Have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, Rob Henikman Principal

Mr. Suters homeroom arrived at the board meeting a couple of minutes before starting time. They used the extra minutes to introduce their parents to the board members. They had practiced introductions with Mr. Henikman and Mrs. Ghori in social studies class. When the meeting began, the students walked to the front of the room and led the members of the board in the Pledge of Allegiance. The board members were very impressed. Later in the meeting, Mr. Bergan asked the students to justify what symbol of America they thought represented democracy the best. - by Haiden S. and Sierra R.
