This concerns not only Christianity but alsoother religions. A common feature of theattitudes denoted by the terms listed above is,in the area of religion, a tendency toappropriate exclusively truth and salvation, accompanied by a desire to disqualify all otherbeliefs and views. save us, all others will be damned. The one wecondemn is damned by God; we are sure of that! We do not need any dialogue, anycommon search for truth; the truth is ours;there is no alternative to the truth advocated byus. We are forced to accept it under threat of damnation...These are only several characteristics of aclosed and narrow mentality, inspired by thefeeling of exclusivism, self-sufficiency andfear of others. It often happened in the pastthat hell was filled with a countless number of sinners, infidels, pagans, atheists and all otheropponents. This attitude lacks any sympathyand understanding for weakness and sin of ahuman being. There is no compassion for thelost and damned. There resound verdicts of condemnation for the sinful world.Christian Churches used to judge each other inthis way in the past, guided by the conviction
