BASIC FUNCTION Plans, supervises and personally conducts inspection and testing of equipment tanks and piping using

various non-destructive examination techniques like Ultrasonic flaw detection/thickness measurements, Magnetic particle testing, X-ray/radiography, Dye penetrant tests, Eddy current testing, Magnetic flux leakage testing, acoustic emission, thermography etc. Evaluates and interprets the test results and makes necessary recommendations to the supervisor. Carries out visual inspection and quality control jobs on plant facilities. WORK PERFORMED. -Directs and supervises NDT technicians and participates in taking thickness measurement of equipment and piping by ultrasonic, radiographic or other techniques. -Develops special procedures/techniques of such inspection using above methods for equipment/piping liable for uncommon deterioration/failure. -Tests existing equipment as well new projects and modifications using ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particles (including fluorescent type) dye penetrant and similar other methods to detect defects, Interprets the results and evaluates them. -Establishes and ensures implementation and maintenance of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations applicable to the use of radioactive materials as well as all chemicals used in non-destructive examination jobs. -Carries out Infrared thermography on plant equipment and piping including monitoring of skin temperatures of heater tubes and refractory condition of furnaces, overheating on electrical equipments etc. -Assesses the condition of heat exchangers tubes by Eddy current testing/Magnetic flux leakage testing using the appropriate equipment and evaluates the test results. -Makes necessary recommendation to the supervisor on repair/replacement of tubes. Also provides the same services to other operating centers within ADNOC. -Carries out Positive Material Identification and analysis of alloys using appropriate equipment in the field as well as in the laboratory, and provides assistance to other ADNOC Operating Centres when required for this job. -Determines frequency of tests and prepares plan and schedule on equipment and piping in coordination with Inspection Engineers / Sr. Engineers. -Maintains the NDE laboratory and all the NDT/Radiographic equipments, tools and to ensure consumable effective functioning of the laboratory. Keeps abreast of technology and recommends suitable upgrading of techniques and tools. -Maintains records of ultrasonic thickness measurement and all other examination including Infrared thermography, Eddy current test/Magnetic flux leakage tests conducted periodically. Inputs all required data into Record management system. -Prepares Purchase Requisitions and develops Work Service Order and Contracts for NDE jobs as required. Carries out technical /commercial evaluation as required including submissions to committees -Provides necessary training to NDT technicians to higher levels of skills and ensures their competency in performing various NDE jobs in line with relevant codes and practices. Also develops improvements in various NDE techniques to ensure top quality assessment of plant equipment. -Carries out visual inspection of plant equipment like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns etc. for deterioration and defects and assesses the integrity of the equipment, based on relevant codes. -Conducts qualification tests for welding procedures and welders including preparation of procedures and maintains necessary records.

-Carries out paint condition inspections/surveys and painting quality control on new painting jobs/paint repairs. -Carries out other similar jobs as directed by the supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. -Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Level III qualification in ND examinations or equivalent preferred. -Minimum 5 years experience in Inspection and NDT testing of which at least 4 years should be in Petroleum Process plant. -Good written and spoken English.
