STRAWBALE Block

Synopsis
Approximately, 100 million tones of straws are produced annually from farms and wilds in their natural habitats. Walls, from plastered strawbale blocks, provide super insulated houses (against heat or cold) with a reduction in CO2 emission; cause a net decrease in greenhouse gas emission; and provide U-value (thermal transmittance/(unit area and temperature)) of 0.13 compared with conventional sandcrete wall of 3.3. The wall is cost effective; and currently it costs 0.25 of sandcrete wall. Strawbale wall is very innocuous and can be used as a structural and durable element for a two-storey building to replace sandcrete wall.
