Togo is deeply concerned by the widespread violence that continues to exacerbate the situation in Syria despite the international communitys calls. Togo had hoped the Council would send a strong message to the Syrian regime on the need to end all violence, but unfortunately, the Council had not been able to send that message. Deploring the state of affairs in Syria, we regret that the Council has failed to bring peace and security to the country till now. Nonetheless, it must be able to continue seeking ways and means to do so because the Syrian people should not continue to weep, suffer and bury their dead while the Council stands by watching.
