Overview
Virtual University of Pakistan has always been committed to Education for All and from its very inception, pursued an open policy regarding delivery methodology and services. As an extension to this policy, the University has launched Open Course Ware (OCW) Offline, which will provide free and open contents to everyone within their own LAN. This will help educational institutes in particular to install and setup this VU OCW in offline mode to access this digital publication of high quality educational material containing course contents, overview, lesson videos, reference books and related links etc.

Open My Computer and press right click to Z: drive. Choose Properties option from menu. Change drive label to Videos.

Launch the Setup Program by clicking on HelixServer.exe (The exe file can be found in the zip file provided by vu).

10. Enter username and password, which is required to access the administrator web page of Helix Server, and click Next . Note: You must enter Username Administrator.

11. Enter a port number on which Helix Server will listen for PNA connections. These connections have URLs that begin with pnm://. and click Next. Note: Enter port number 7070 for PNA connection, which is already default port number.
12. Enter a port number on which Helix Server will listen for RTSP connections. These connections have URLs that begin with rtsp://, and click Next.
Note: Enter port number 554 for RTSP connection, which is already default port number.
13. Enter a port number on which Helix Server will listen for HTTP connections. These connections have URLs that begin with http://, click Next. Note: Enter port number 8080 for HTTP connections.

14. Helix Server will listen for Administrator requests on the port number 15243, click Next Note: Enter port number 15243 for communication with Helix administrator.
15. Select Install Helix Server as NT Service, and click Next Note: You must select Install Helix Server as NT Service to auto start Helix Server at windows startup.
16. In confirmation window, review selected configuration of Helix Server, Click Finish to begin copying files or Back to change the configuration, if required.

17. After complete installation a message window appears showing Helix Server installation is complete. Now click OK to finish the Installation setup.
18. Locate the file HelixServerConfiguration_32bit.vbs, in the given zip file and double click it to execute for configuration of Helix Server. 19. Locate the file RegistryConfiguration.vbs in the given zip file and double click it to execute. 20. Locate the file PrepareVideoDrive.vbs in the given zip file and double click it to format courses folders. 21. Locate the file VideoFormatChanger.vbs in the given zip file and click it to format lectures videos files.

Click on Server Setup menu to expand sub menus. Locate and click on Mount Points.

If Base Path is not set as Z:\Videos then change the Base Path as Z:\Videos and then click on Apply button.
Note: If Base Path manually changes as Z:\Videos then follow step 7 and 8. 7. System will display message with Succeed Status. Press Close button to proceed further.

Your must restart the server for the changes to take effect, click on the Restart Server button which is placed in right upper corner of the interface.

Log on to the server computer as administrator where you want to install the OCW Offline Website.

Launch the provided Setup Program by clicking on VU_OCW_Offline_Ver_1.0.0.exe, and click Next .

Select the installation addresses of virtual directory and application pool of OCW offline website, click Next .

Installation Complete, Click Close to Finish. Note: You must Restart VSS Server now.
VU Open Courseware (Offline) Launch OCW Offline Website and Play Lecture Videos
1. 2. 3. Open web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox). Type URL http://vss/ocw/ in address bar and Press Enter. OCW offline website will be launched.

Find course by entering Course Code in provided text box for search

Click on desired lesson to view and playback its video. Note: If selected video is not playing, You must Restart VSS
