JAMES W. ZION
Attorney & Jurisconsult
3808 Ladera Drive N.W. Albuquerque, NM 87120
Admitted in the Navajo Nation, Connecticut and the Supreme Court of the United States
Dear Mr. Sulyandziga, I am sending, via separate email inclusion, submissions by The Forgotten People and Dooda (No!) Desert Rock on problems with the observance of human rights and the standards of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights for inclusion in the record of the Working Groups official visit to the United States of America. These submissions, by two grassroot organization members of Navajo Nation civil society, relate problems under the Principles of a lack of state observance of human rights oversight and regulation of corporate and state enterprise activities, human rights abuses and a lack of adequate remedies by peoples subjected to abuse. It is unfortunate that facility problems led to a limitation of the agenda for the meeting in Flagstaff today, but we are grateful for an opportunity to make these submissions in lieu of personal presentations. If there are any additional questions, or any need for clarification or additional information, I am the attorney for both Forgotten People and Dooda Desert Rock. The Working Groups attention to these issues will be appreciated, and I am sure you will be interested to get information on United States indigenous perspectives of the issues. Sincerely,
James W. Zion
