Nevada State College TRIO Upward Bound Programs Immediate Employment Opportunity (Assistant Director - Full-Time/Exempt) Qualifications: 1.

Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree required in education, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, student services or a closely related field from an accredited college/university. 2. Four or more years experience supervising, coordinating or managing an Upward Bound program or similar educational opportunity program that serves under-represented populations or at-risk students. 3. Proven ability to motivate parents, students & community personnel. 4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, including public speaking, presentations and written communication. 5. Demonstrated sensibility to the needs of economically disadvantaged students, and ability to interact effectively with staff, faculty, unit heads, administration, parents, and the academic community. 6. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, delegate and monitor work activities. 7. Overcome barriers similar to the target population. Responsibilities 1. Manage and oversee the Upward Bound staff including faculty, tutors, and staff. 2. Serve as the primary liaison between Upward Bound and program target schools. 3. Lead the program recruitment and retention efforts. 4. Conduct need assessments for students and develop individualized educational action plans for program participants. 5. Conceptualize, plan, execute, and evaluate program activities and services. 6. Provide assistance to participants with college and FASFA applications. 7. Oversee tracking plan for program graduates and disconnected participants. 8. Assist with development and completion of annual performance reports. 9. Other duties as assigned. Compensation Nevada State College offers a full package of fringe benefits including health, dental and life insurance, educational reimbursement, holidays, and retirement. Salary is dependent on experience.
