Jet Sweep

The Jet Sweep is the signature play in our offense. It can be run from any formation and is and easy check with me play. This allows the quarterback to run the Jet away from the defensive strength consistently. Because we run so much extended motion the Jet can threaten the defense flank on almost every snap. Jet sweep can be run left or right in almost any formation The ability to do this makes the Jet our most dangerous and effective play.

Advantages of Jet
Fastest play to the Flank Minimal teaching and installation Dont have to block: Get in the way Run from multiple formations Check with me: QB can keep you out of poor play.

Distance off the Ball

With the center on the ball, the Guards assume a stance so that the tips of their helmets are in line with the bottom of the centers jersey number. This is easily accomplished with the guard putting the hand or fingers down at the end of the centers toes. The tackles align on the guard and the tight end on the tackle.

BACKFIELD TECHNIQUES

Quarterback
Quarterback receives the ball from the center he will pivot on his right foot turning 180 degrees. His back will be to the line of scrimmage with the elbows in and the point of the ball in the belly button. To initiate halfback motion the quarterback will pick up his heel. The ball should be snapped when the running back is in B gap or at the outside leg of the guard. The ball is then handed over the inside leg of the front side guard. After the running back passes the quarterback he will bootleg away. Remember, the quarterback must look to find the strong safety or the strength of the defense and check the play to the weak side.

Fullback

The full back will align with toes at 4 yards from the line of scrimmage. On the snap of the ball the fullback will run slightly off the midline brushing skin to skin with the quarterback. He will then bend his path and block the backside linebacker to the safety. The fullback must keep his head up or he will not be able to see the second level linebackers. Make sure the fullback does not stop before blocking the linebacker.

#2 Tight End

Block the #1 man in the count. It is the Tight Ends responsibility to determine who is #1 and to communicate this information to the halfbacks. The number one man is the first player that aligns on you body or in C gap. The tight end is always responsible for blocking the #1 defender. Block this defender with the block that fits the defenders alignment.

#1 To Wide/ Hoya Call

E
TE WB

Reach Block
6 Inch lateral step Xover to the crotch of the adjacent lineman Get head and shoulder outside of the defender Stalemate wins

Wingback

The wingback aligns one foot outside the Tight End and one foot deep. The wingbacks rule is to block the #2 defender outside the end man on the line of scrimmage. When the #2 defender is on the line of scrimmage the wingback must now attack at a point one yard outside the defenders hip. The wingback will utilize the same techniques as the lineman when executing the reach block.

Halfback

The halfbacks alignment is also one foot outside the end man on the line of scrimmage. The halfback will leave on the on the quarterbacks heel lift at full speed. He will aim at a point approximately one yard deeper than the quarterback. The halfback will receive the ball at full speed and read the block of the wingback and the front side guard. If the wing gets his head to the outside of the #2 defender the half back will bounce the play to the sidelines. If the wing turns out the #2 defender the halfback will cut inside then look to break back to the outside. Remember; always run hash, numbers, and sideline.
