Mountain biking is a relatively new sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This has its advantages - we have thousands of kilometres of trails where mountain bikers can ride free! Youll have unrestricted access to dozens of highland trails that meander through the regions most beautiful countryside. Most bike trails are ancient highland caravan routes that connected mountain communities, offering routes that are challenging yet well maintained. The best trails are located in the heart of the Central Dinaric Alps, not far from Sarajevo. The nor thwest frontiers,

par ticularly around the town of Bihac, also offer well groomed biking trails, with ideal terrain for road biking as well. We organise both easy and strenuous mountain biking trips on paved and dirt roads, as well as single track and free ride options in the mountains around Sarajevo. Dont want to travel with your bike and gear, or perhaps youve left them at home? No problem - we have everything you need, from bikes to helmets and clothing. Just hop into the saddle and youre on your way to an unforgettable biking adventure.

ting A fascina of Melange Cultures

For thousands of years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been the crossroads of civilisations. Nowhere else in Europe can you find such a magical mix of Europe and the Near East. The Slavs settled this Balkan heartland in the 6th century and their subsequent history has created the most multiethnic society in southern Europe. Here you will find the great mystical Byzantine traditions, the Romanesque influence from the Franciscan church, the small but significant traces of the Jewish communities that settled here in the 15th century, and unmistakable oriental trappings of the Ottoman Empire. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a natural wonderland, blessed with rugged canyons, lush forests, crystal-clear rivers and lakes, with a precious mlange of the cultures and traditions that have evolved from this mountainous region of the Southern Dinaric A lps. It is a place that will stun you with its natural beauty, inspire you with its cultural richness, and touch you with its warm and genuine hospitality. At Green Visions, were passionate about the wonders of our homeland and look forward to sharing them with you.

Mostar

Worl Stunning

d Heritag

Founded in the 15th century, Mostar is the jewel of the Balkans. The architecture is a brilliant combination of Turkish ingenuity with local traditions of craftsmanship. Undoubtedly, you will have heard much about this city, which was tragically divided during the conflict in the early 1990s. You can still see the scars of war, but these days Mostar is once again a warm and bustling place with a fascinating history to be encountered around every corner. We will spend the late morning and early afternoon exploring its unique sights. After lunch we take a 15-minute drive to the nearby village of Blagaj, home of the Buna Spring and the adjacent Ottoman house/ monastery. The spring here is amazing it flows out of a 200m cliff wall, and is the source of the Buna River. The Ottoman sultan was impressed, and ordered a Tekija to be built right next to it. This 16th century house/monastery was built for the Dervish cults and is still one of the most mystical places in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Blagajs Old Town, the newly built heritage trail provides a pleasant 30-45 minute walk around the town. Sights include the Tekija house and the 17th century Velagi house, a beautiful example of Ottoman masonry. In the vicinity you will also come across old watermills that were formerly driven by the fast-flowing Buna River. Sites to see include: 1. Ancient oriental old town 2. Remnants of the Old Bridge, 1566 3. Koski Mehmed Paa Mosque, 1618-1619 4. Kriva uprija (Oblique Bridge), 1558 5. Kujund iluk Street - old coppersmiths street 6. Kara ozbegova Mosque, 1577 7. ardak (Watch tower) 8. Bievia House (Traditional Turkish house with courtyard) 9. Medresa (Muslim religious secondary school)

Green Visions organises educational outdoor adventure ac tivities for children and young people. With youth unemployment at an all-time high in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more and more young people are leaving for countries with higher living standards. Our vision is to increase the opportunities that responsible tourism offers to young people and their families. Together with the GTZ, we started the Open Travel Network to provide a sound base for youth tourism development. It addresses the issues of unemployment, lack of training , cer tif ication and standards, inadequate marketing , and limited access to international

youth tourism markets. This threeyear project has created a network linking private and nongovernmental organisations that are interested in generating income from responsible youth tourism. A s a member of the Reisenet youth travel network, Green Visions organises class excursions, volunteer camps, outdoor adventure programs that are rewarding and fun for everyone who takes part.
