2. Define resistance A property of a conductor byvirtue of which the passage of current is oppo sed, causingelectric energy to be transformed into heat: equal to thevoltag e across the conductor divided by the current flowingin the conductor: usu ally measured in ohms. 3. What are the two types of resistors? Explain and give examples for each 3.1 Fixed Resistor - A resistor having a fixed, defined electrical resistance which is not adjustable. There are four types of fixed resistors: 3.1.1 Carbon composition 3.1.2 Carbon film 3.1.3 Metal film 3.1.4 Wire wound 3.2 Variable Resistor - A resistor of which the ohmic resistance value can be adjusted. Either mechanically (potentiometer, rheostat) or electronically (digital potentiometer).
