Introducing the Yoder-bred Vintage line of compact, bushy Hibiscus moscheutos

Why "Vintage?" Because like fine wines, Hibiscus come in Red, White, and Pink or "Blush." And because gardeners, like lovers of fine wines, are always seeking something nouveau to enhance their possibilities for pleasure. The Vintage line includes two distinct series Splash and Carafe differentiated by their size at maturity. Splash varieties are the shortest, most compact varieties ever bred. These display the dazzling, dinner plate-sized flowers typical of the species, on neat, uniform plants that average just 21/2' tall! They are what the well-known 'Disco Belle' series aspires to be. Perfect for middle to front of border, as specimen plants in smaller gardens, even in containers wherever just a splash is just the thing. Carafe varieties are a bit taller, averaging 3' high. At first glance, these seem analogous to mid-height 'Southern Belle' or 'Blue River II' that have been on the market for years. But then, the virtues of a superior wine take a little time to appreciate, too. Grown side-by-side with those standards in our trials, the Carafe varieties quickly revealed their virtues more flowers, greater uniformity and an unprecedented denser, fuller habit.

Snowy white petals are kissed with just the subtlest hint of rose-pink at the outer edge. A brush stroke of the same hue enhances each petal's base, forming a rosy ring around the flower's center.
