Hi there, Are you related to the Barend Buys or Jean De Bus (De Buys) tree - there is a difference and these two trees, as far as I know have not crossed. I've also not found any Smuts family in my De Buys tree!

There are a few errors in the timeline portion. The Orange Free State Vierkleur was adopted on Feb 23 1857. The OFS adopted the Driekleur used at Swellendam & Graaff-Reinet back in 1795 for its first flag until it adopted the Vrystaat VierKleur in 1857. I notice that you did not mention the Bloukrans & Saailaager massacre of Feb 16 & 17 1838. Also no mention of the Maritz Rebellion of September 15
