Automated feed ration formation system

S.M.U.C Seneviratne*, H.M.A.T Herath, E.M.M.S Ekanayake, T.Nistar Department of Computer Science and Technology, Uva Wellassa University, Badulla, Sri Lanka Abstract Cattle in animal husbandries are provided food according to a optimal feed ration which is calculated base on hygienic and economical conditions. Feed ration calculation process is basically a complex linear programming which requires more time and labour to solve. 'Automated Feed Ration Formation System' is an ideal solution to calculate optimal feed rations within few seconds even by a less experienced labour. System is a standalone application which can be operated on windows XP and above versions. Other minimum physical requirements are 256MB ram, Pentium 4 processor. System is implemented with C#.net and MySQL as the DBMS. Initially system should be configured with the data related to food items with their prices which are available in the husbandry. Next step is to input the weight of each cattle to the system. System will provide number of optimal feed rations which satisfies the given criteria. Feeder also can use his experience to choose the most optimal ration. Optimal feed rations can be calculated with a high accuracy level. 'Automated Feed Ration Formation System' provides better solution to overcome the complexity of reducing the calculating more optimal feed rations within a short time. System can generate more economical benefits for husbandries by reducing the food wastage and keeping the cattle healthy. Key Words:- Feed Ration, Cattle, Husbandries, Linear Programming, Feeding
