July Message From Outgoing International President Karlena Rannals, CAP-OM

To Chapter and Division Presidents, Vice Presidents and Presidents-elect: As I write this final message to the members of our association, I want to say thank you most of all. Ive held many different leadership positions over my years in IAAP. I know how hard all of our volunteer leaders work. It has been a privilege for me to serve you and the entire association in this leadership role. In this final message I encourage everyone reading this, whether youre a member or a chapter or division president, to embrace becoming a leader. In my speech last year at EFAM, I spoke to all of the membership about embracing becoming a LEADER and become a part of the movement of positive change. My hope is that even though this year as president is nearly over for me, that youll still embrace these principles and continue to Be The One to affect positive change. As LEADER continue to: Become involved and ask others to become involved Be responsible and accountable for your actions Listen Encourage Acknowledge Develop Be an Example Show Respect and accept Responsibility

There is still time to register and come to EFAM in Anaheim. Weve got a wonderful line-up of speakers mixed with fun, awards and a bit of dancing. We also have some serious issues facing us at this EFAM. I encourage all of you, whether a voting delegate or not, to read and understand the issues before us. We are at a crossroads with IAAPgrow or die. Change or become irrelevant. Again, I thank you for the opportunity to lead and serve you and the members of IAAP. I dont know what my future holds for me as I move to a new chapter of service. But, I can tell you that this has certainly been a memorable year. I hope that in some small way I have made a difference to you. You certainly made a huge difference to me. I look forward to welcoming many of you to southern California as we gather to connect, learn, lead, and excel, and celebrate the year. Annotation from your Chapter President, Vicki Hahn, CAP-OM: I hope that President Rannals message will resonate with you at some point in your IAAP participation. Every effort, big or small makes a difference, and small changes can have big results! Please continue to share your ideas, thoughts and time with us.
