Goddess Lakshmi is one of the most worshiped Deities in Hindu Religion. According to Hindu mythology Kubera is the god of wealth and son of Sage Vishrava who is the son of Lord Brahma. Kubera is widely known as the gods appointed guardian of the treasures of the gods and the nine special treasures of indefinite significance. But he is also the King of Yakshas and one of the Ashta-Dikpalas, representing the north direction. He is also referred to as Kuvera, Kuber, Dhanapati and Vaisravana. Kubera's residence Lanka (which he captured from the Demons) was captured back by his half brother Ravana. When Ravana captured Lanka, Kubera moved to palace on Mount Kailash, in the Himalayas. Mantra Meditation for Wealth and Prosperity

The Hindu Goddess Lakshmi

The meditation I want to share with you uses an easy to learn mantra to attract wealth and prosperity through the positive energies of the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi (quite often spelled Laxmi). She governs many positive attributes including wealth, prosperity, courage, light, generosity and wisdom. Lakshmi is typically depicted as an extremely beautiful woman with four arms. Descriptions of Lakshmi vary somewhat. I will describe the most common form I have seen represented.

Lakshmi sits on a pink lotus flower which is floating on the water. The lotus on the water represents purity and spirituality, or transcendance. Growing out of the mud, it floats above it. The seated yoga meditation position called padmasana or in western terms, the lotus position, has its roots in the very same symbolism. The lotus can also be said to represent the evolution of conciousness. From the mire of consciousness it transcends into spiritual unity. Clothed in the finest garments and bedecked with jewels, gold coins of prosperity flow from her lower right hand. Her lower left hand is held in a meditative Mudra position. A Mudra is a symbolic positioning of the hand, fingers or body, there are traditionally 108 different Mudras. In many representations of Lakshmi you will see two elephants flanking her, spraying water. The elephants represent royalty, in Hindu symbolism elephants also remove obstacles. Her upper hands are holding perfect lotus flowers. Lakshmi is repeatedly associated with the lotus flower in Hindu lore. In the ancient text called the Mahabharata, it states that Lakshmi was born from a lotus which grew out of Vishnu's head. Vishnu is considered the supreme God in Hindu tradition. Laxmi's Dream
I first learned of the Laxmi meditation while listening to a compilation of meditation music by Caitlin called Laxmi's Dream: Sacred Mantras. The album is a collection of Hindu and Tibetan mantras passed on to her by her teacher. The mantras are repeated with beautiful singing by Caitlin and accompaniment with didgeridoo and various instruments by her husband Sika. Listening to Caitlin's sacred mantras is a powerful meditation in its own right. You can just drift and let the sounds infuse your being with peace and tranquility. I have used it to great effect to heal myself. It is the single most powerful collection of ancient Sanskrit and Tibetan mantras I have ever heard. Friends of mine who have listened to it all agree that it is exceptional. The Laxmi mantra in English writing looks like this: Om Shrim Maha Lakshmi Yei Swaha To pronounce it, it sounds like: Ohmm Shreem Maha Lok-Shmee Yayee Svahaa Om begins the mantra as a sacred exclamation, it precedes traditional mantras and prayers. Shrim is a vibration to attract abundance. Maha means great.

Laxmi represents the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. Swaha is another vibration that attracts abundance and prosperity.

Mantra Meditation Technique

To begin the meditation, find yourself a comfortable position where you will not be disturbed while you meditate. Ultimately you should be sitting in the full lotus position if you are able. However, I have read teachings from Hindu masters that indicate a half lotus is perfectly acceptable if the full lotus position makes you too uncomfortable (especially for Westerners who did not grow up in the lotus position). If for some reason you cannot be in the half lotus position, you may even perform the meditation seated with your spine comfortably straight. Meditating while lying down works too, though you may tend to fall asleep. The most important aspect of your body position during mantra meditation, is to have the spine straight so that the energy can flow easily through your chakras without being blocked. That is one of the reasons why the full lotus is so often used, it brings your body naturally into a good alignment. Take a deep breath and let your body relax. Then begin to repeat the mantra out loud or in your mind, whatever is comfortable for you. It is recommended to voice it out loud because you are creating a vibration of energy which resonates out into the Universe. Repeating the mantra in your mind also produces the same vibration, just with your thoughts instead of your voice. I have had good success repeating the mantra in my mind, and in my opinion, the vibrations of thought can be just as powerful as the vibrations of your voice. As you repeat the mantra, om shrim maha laxmi yei swaha, see Lakshmi in your mind. Visualize her gold coins of prosperity showering you in your life. Concentrate your awareness on Lakshmi, sometimes you might imagine her smiling as she bestows good fortune upon you. Let your breath flow naturally, as your mind calms down, your

breathing will slow, this is natural. Say the mantra 108 times with Love and Compassion in your heart. 108 is a very sacred number in Hindu tradition, all sanskrit mantras should be repeated 108 times for a complete meditation cycle. If you only have a short amount of time to meditate, 12 times is a good number, but 108 is the best. Even saying it 15 or 25 or 68 times is perfectly fine, sometimes the real world requires your attention or you may not be able to finish your complete meditation for some reason. Consider 108 repetitions as a meditative practice goal. It is nearly impossible to keep count while meditating, that is why prayer beads known as a Mala are used. You hold the mala necklace which has 108 beads and each time you say the mantra you move one more bead through your fingers until you get to the beginning of the mala again. It works incredibly well, freeing your mind to concentrate on meditating. As you meditate, you may find that your mind wanders onto other thoughts, gently move your mind back to Laxmi, or the mantra, or just nothingness. I have found it especially effective to just focus all of your attention on just saying the mantra. Try to find the time to perform the meditation about once per day for maximum benefit. When you really start to get good at it, mantra meditation can actually be addictive. Especially at the higher spiritual levels of consciousness, such as Yogi Masters attain, when they begin to experience bliss and unity. Seek balance, it is not necessary to spend *all* of your time in meditation. Namaste

The word Mantra is a Sanskrit word, which when etymologically analysed, means to protect. There are millions of mantras, and each has a particular deity which is worshipped through the repetition of the mantra. Mantras are words of power and are used to achieve specific results, like good health, wealth, spiritual progress, psychic abilities and so on. The repetition of a mantra with concentration, faith and abiding with the instructions given by the Guru (the person who initiates you into the mantra), will definitely produce the desired results.

Does one need to be initiated, to practise a mantra? Yes. You cannot just practise a mantra, by reading it out of a book. The Guru is a person, who has gained mastery over the particular mantra, you want to practise. The Guru will initiate you into the mantra by whispering it, into your right ear, and also do one round of

the mantra on the Mala (rosary) you are going to use. There are certain mantras which are practised by people, on faith alone and they too can show results. But it is always advisable to get the mantra from a competent Guru, as the mantra has become alive by his practise, and he passes this down to you in the initiation. Also when the mantra is whispered in your ear, you will know the correct pronunciation and the way it is to be chanted.

How many times should a mantra be repeated? Each mantra has a specific number of repetitions, which when completed, will bear the desired results. This number of repetitions is called Purascharana, and usually it will depend on the number of syllables that a mantra has, excluding the Om which precedes all mantras. For example the mantra, Om Namah Shivaya, has five syllables (na, mah, shi, va, ya) and each syllable needs to be repeated 100,000 times. So the Purascharana for this particular mantra would be 500,000. After you have completed that many repetitions you will start seeing the results of the mantra in your life. A minimum of 108 repetitions should be done daily. Even after completion of a Purascharana, the mantra should be repeated 108 times daily to maintain its power.

Why does the mantra, not give any results even after the prescribed repetitions have been completed? There can be many reasons for this. One of the main reason could be, that you have not been initiated into the mantra by a proper Guru. Another reason could be irregular practise and poor concentration while repeating the mantra. Karma (results of past lives) also plays a major part in the success of a mantra. If you have an accumulation of bad karma, it will stop the effect of the mantra from taking place. In such cases, it is advised to do the Purascharana, repeatedly until the results start manifesting in one's life. Sometimes it can also be seen that you start manifesting the results even before you have completed the Purascharana. This is because, you may have practised this mantra in your previous life and completed the required repetition in this life. How should a mantra be practised? The Guru will guide you into the practise of the mantra, but there are certain general guidelines which one can follow.

What should be the posture and seating arrangement, and which direction to face?

Any comfortable sitting posture, where the spine is held erect, is good. For people who cannot sit cross-legged, even sitting on a chair is fine as long as you hold your spine in a straight line, and do not get too comfortable and start relaxing. You can face the East or North directions, when you do your mantra practise. A folded woolen blanket will make an ideal seat, for practising the repetition of mantras. If you are sitting on a chair, do not let your feet directly touch the floor, and put a woolen mat underneath them.

Should the mantra be chanted aloud? What should one visualize, or concentrate upon, while chanting the mantra? Mantras should not be practised with an irreverent attitude, or with an attitude to find out if a mantra will work or not. Practise the mantra, only if you have full faith in it, and approach it with reverence. The most powerful way of practising the mantra is to chant it mentally with full concentration. You can visualize the form of the Deity of the mantra, as vividly as possible. You can give life and color to your visualisation, and see the Deity smiling lovingly at you. Visualisation will keep your mind from wandering and will also keep boredom at bay. Some people like to just be aware of the sound of the mantra as it is being chanted, and this is very good, but this can be practised by someone who has gained a fair amount of mastery over his mind. If you find that in the beginning it is difficult to maintain your concentration, you can chant the mantra aloud. But you should

strive to come to the point, where you can chant the mantra mentally without any distraction, as the mental repetition is the most potent. It is always better to do a small ritual to worship the Deity of the mantra, before you start the repetitions, so that your mind is gets attuned to the Deity.

What type of Mala (rosary) should one use to maintain the count of the mantra? The Mala will depend upon the Deity of the mantra. If you are doing a Shiva mantra, then a Mala made of Rudraksha beads is ideal. If you are chanting a Lakshmi mantra a Mala of Lotus seeds would be the best. Narayana or Vishnu mantras are best done with a Tulsi Mala.

How to hold the Mala (rosary)? The Mala should ideally have 108 beads for keeping the count. There will be, one more larger bead, in the middle to indicate the completion of one round of 108 chants of the mantra. This is called the Meru and should never be crossed. If you are planning to do more than one round of repetitions, start moving the Mala in the opposite direction, once you reach the Meru. The Mala should be held in the right hand, draped over the middle

finger. The thumb should be used to move the beads and the index finger should not be used in any way. Mantras are potent words of power that are in the holy scriptures of all religions and were discovered by holy sages. Mantras have been repeated by millions of people throughout the ages, and this sheer volume of repetitions gives and maintains the power of the mantra. One cannot imagine the power one can possess, by practising the different mantras, and the result of the practise will be there in all the lifetimes that one has to undergo.

He was just 21 years old when he attained Jeev samadhi.

Best described by David Albert in his 1992 publication Quantum Mechanics and Experience, The dynamics and the postulate of collapse are flatly in contradiction with one another ... the postulate of collapse seems to be right about what happens when we make measurements, and the dynamics seems to be bizarrely wrong about what happens when we make measurements, and yet the dynamics seems to be right about what happens whenever we aren't making measurements. This measurement problem was expressed in the famous Double-slit experiment, where the wave-particle duality was shown. This means that a subatomic particle will only act as a particle when it is being observed, otherwise, it acts as a wave and is in a state of superposition, aka: multiple places at the same time. It is only until the observer steps into the equation that the superposition collapses into a singular position in space/time. It becomes fairly obvious to us at this point that we should integrate this information into the field of Psychology, Human Physiology, and how we perceive reality as a whole. So, what does this all mean for Psychology, the study of humanity, and understanding our reality, if we really do construct it ourselves, and our place in the Universe? Well, it means it is all a matter of perspective, almost literally! What we personally believe is what matters. As far as we know, the meaning of life is the meaning we individually give life. Now it simply comes down to choice, of using our free will to decide what we will create from the infinite possibilities quantum physics is demonstrating we have. The newly developing field of Energy Psychology takes into account the life force energy, (aka: orgone energy first discovered by Wilhelm Reich in the 1930s, the Chinese Chi, Japanese Ki, and the Sanskrit Prana) and the Human Energy Body. Though Energy Psychology is still considered New Age by many, it incorporates knowledge from other sciences and is proving to be an incredibly useful outlook for the treatment of various ailments. If humanity ever wishes to release ourselves from a victim consciousness of reality being out of our control, a more holistic view must be conceived. More studies on the fundamental energy of all that is manifest and still potential, the nature of consciousness,

intention and their effects on matter, all will prove to have a completing role in the development of a unified theory. Understanding how these factors play out in our realities will eventually lead to the knowledge of how we can create and live the experience of existence we so desire.
