Which college to join after class 12th ?

By : Dr. Trilok Kumar Jain Dean, ISBM (International School of Business Management) Suresh Gyan Vihar University Jaipur www.gyanvihar.org Isbm@gyanvihar.org 9414430763 There is a turning point in the life of every student. It is a huge difference from being in class 12th and being in class 13 (first year). The environment completely changes. As a student of class 12th, there is a disciplined system of academic excellence and the student is expected to progress in a prescribed manner. The system is well regulated and well established. This is not the case with the colleges. The variance among college is huge and striking. There are colleges, which are known for excellence and there are also colleges, which convert any raw student into a rogue. There are colleges where there is proper discipline and regulated system of governance, there are opposite extremes also - where there is no regulation, no attendance, and no discipline. 70 to 80% students opt for arts and commerce discipline, which are unfortunately most unregulated and lack proper order of discipline. These students fail to get a very well established system of administration, laboratories, regulated academics and spirit of excellence. Engineering, medicine and professional education offers excellent laboratories and regulated system of academics, but arts and commerce education lack all these. It is really unfortunate that what 80% of the country needs, has been neglected and discarded so far. What we find is that most of the arts and commerce colleges are only platforms for political parties (where students are regular only for election purpose and there are no other practical courses). Everyone knows what kind of election systems are we adopting in colleges. Everyone know about what kind of learning do we impart to your young generation. Everyone knows about wastage of three importat years of youth through these BA and B.Com. courses being run casually by most colleges. Gyan Vihar University, which was focussing on professional education till now, has now made an entry into arts and commerce education also. This is with an intention to bring about transformation of arts and commerce education. Distinctive features of Gyan Vihar University:

The BA and B.Com. in Gyan Vihar University is very different from other colleges. The difference is visible in the following : a. there are laboratories and practical projects b. there are continuous industrial visits c. there are extensive classes for different subjects and students are expected to follow the discipline d. 75% attendance is mandatory e. students get an opportunity to pursue their hobbies through participation in different clubs f. students engage in social development activities through participation in community development activities g. students have to write articles and get them published, thereby they are able to develop their writing skills and capabilities. h. They get guidance from industry experts about how to prepare for employment. i. Students are given training / coaching for preparation of civil services and other competitive examinations along with BA. j. Students of B.Com Thus we can say that the BA and B.Com in Gyan Vihar is much different and thereby create a different platform altogher.
