Solid Waste (cont.)
We cannot bury it.
Many of the country's landfills have been closed because
they were full or they were polluting groundwater.
We cannot burn it.
Burn the solid waste does generate energy, but it may
course a cost—“it may release toxins into the air and create
ash that requires disposal in hazardous-waste landfills, and
that takes us back to our starting point: Cities are running out
of places to put their trash.”(U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency, 2006)
There’s no one can help us to
pay.(if we don’t help ourselves)
As the government cope with the costs and problems of
their own waste operation, they are less glad to deal with the
waste and the pollution generates.
