Punk culture and existentialism

I, being an adolescent am in a position where I have to create an identity for myself. This identity is supposed to be the person I am going to become, who Im going to strive to be. This is where the trouble starts. Who is it worth to become, is it the right choice, my identity is already in a state of chaos, perhaps the only state that it can be, a state of constant decay and rebirth, its evolving. Should I halt this development for the sake of conforming to a society that is spiritually depraved or should I rebel thus condemn me to a constant state of chaos.
The painting to the left (by Daniel Richter) represent this struggle with existential thought, the person looking up at the abstract tiles represents the typical adolescent , anxious and confused when faced with the chaotic nature of reality as represented by the colorful tiles arranged randomly. He is suffering because he thinks, he suffers because of his rejection of conformity in the pursuit of truth which may and possibly does not exist. Punk usually expresses this state of mind in all of its forms through the medium of art, be it music, literature of the visual arts. Its characterized by its uncontrolled energy, fueled by anxiety and hopelessness and expresses as anger and cynical critique of society.

Punk art is gneraly chaotic, using lots of very loud colors in order to express the violent energy created by existencial suffering.
