AUP COM HOPES FOR CHED VISIT IN JANUARY 2014

ast November, AUP, through the most recent issue ofFrom the Presidents Desk, informed the public that the CHED Technical Committee for Medical Education (CTCME) has not visited our campus because of one major deficiency. AUP has yet to receive an official communication from the CHED regarding the delay of the visit. We presume that this major deficiency is the building and laboratory since the other three major requirements which are curriculum, faculty, and base hospital are met. One good thing is, even before the supposed October visit, the CHED conveyed to AUP that if the panel could not visit our campus in October, the panel could still come in January 2014. To prepare for the January visit, construction of the COM building is in full swing. AUP hopes to finish the College of Medicine building by the end of December 2013.

AHCA-NSD DONATES $50K TO AUP COM n response to the appeals made for support to the COM,

the Adventist Health Care Association (AHCA) of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) donated $50K to the AUP COM building project. Dr. Frank Yeung, Chief Executive Officer of two Adventist Hospitals in Hong Kong, and former president of the AHCA presented this project to the association during their Adventist Hospital Presidents Council held in October 2013. AHCA-NSD is currently under the leadership of Dr. Kenji Yamagita, president of the Kobe Adventist Hospital in Japan. Dr. Yamagita with AHCAs adviser Pastor Stanley Ng, assistant to the President for China Affairs, NSD, together with the rest of the hospital presidents are united in their support to the project. AUP received their love gift through the Southern Asia Pacific Division.
